I went out for a ride today and on my way home I noticed one of my gloves had split open. I've seen it on here a few times with Alpinestars gloves and was wondering whether anyone has had any luck with getting them repaired or replaced by Alpinestars?
They aren't the most expensive gloves in their range but at £109 I'd expect them to last more than a year and the 6000 miles they have done.
It's the actual leather that has split not the stitching, I'm not 100% confident that they would have held up in the event of a crash.

If I have to buy a new pair they won't be Alpinestars, but I'm willing to give them a go again if they will replace them laugh

I can't offer any help, but I'd be interested to know if you get anywhere. My Alpinestars 365s split open along the seam after minimal use, so I'm just not prepared to trust them any more. Shame, because they were exceptionally comfy.

Got the GP tech or whatever the top ones are from A*. Finger split after minimal use. Wouldn't wipe my arse with them. Buy Held/Knox.

Go back to who you bought them from with the receipt and they should repair or replace under warranty as they have a 2 year warranty. Try that first, if not I have a good contact at Alpinestars who is brilliant at sorting issues.

I run astar head to toe on the track and been OK so far

Couple years back echoing on the customer service my mx tech 8s went faulty on the sole a year info owning so they looked pretty battered

Sent them back and they just replaced them with a new set!

First pair of GP Pros after 200 miles...

They were then replaced by another pair under warranty and after 400 miles...

Won't ever use their gloves again.

Conversely, I have a pair of SP1s which must be well over 12 years old now. They've made contact with the tarmac of Brands and Almeria over the years, and yet have no visible damage. I'm still using them with confidence and I'd trust them completely.

The quality has slipped over the last 10 years, the older A* stuff is much better made.

I've worn Racer gloves for last couple of years, they were featured as an Bike magazine Best Buy a few years ago, brilliant gloves.

I've got https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/... gloves and can't fault them. Haven't crashed in them mind you. Have had them for four years. Used daily during the summer weather. Showing a few signs of wear and tear, but no splits.

What is that based on? I'm not an alpinestars fan boy at all (apart from their boots) but I don't understand why people say things like this. Out of all the brands we sell I'd say alpinestars is one of if not the most reliable brand we sell relative to how much we sell. That includes brands like Rukka and Schuberth that people seem to think can do no wrong.

Also when there is an issue, no one is as quick and easy to sort a warranty issue than them.

Purely anecdotal on my part but I wasn't impressed with the two pairs above, which were 2015 versions. I'd always used GP Pros up until that point and had never had a problem with older pairs. To their credit, they did replace them and very quickly.

After a few summers of light use mine have come clean on how many days riding a year they are really suitable for.

My Alpinestars were OK until the inner lining pulled it self inside out when removing my hand.

Are all these gloves definitely genuine products and not fakes? Lots of counterfeit alpinestars stuff out there apparently.

My gp pro gloves are a few years old, no issues with them at all. Nor with my winter gloves, boots, waterproofs. Would buy again without question.

I love Alpinestars stuff mainly because it fits me so well. I'm still wearing GP pro boots which are 20 years old, made in Italy and are leather lined, the new boots are all made in the Far East and are definitely not the same quality.

It's also the same with the leathers and gloves. The stuff made 15-20 years ago is just better made. I wasn't really discussing their after sale service just the product quality.

I have a pair of Alpinestar GP pro plus from 2003 that I still wear despite the Carbon knuckles on the right hand wearing though in a 100 mph crash, I replaced these with another pair of GP Plus a few years later which I still wear on the road and track.

Alpinestar GP Tech on the other hand (sic) I wouldn't have another pair because myself and others that I know have had the stitching come away on the fingers on every pair.

I had the same with my GP Tech and GP Pro, stitching coming apart and leather pealing off, on GP Pro on BOTH hands! Appalling, really. I still have new GP Tech and GP Pro lying around (bought on deep discount), but next pair will not be Alpinstars. I rather go Held or Knox (Handroid looks cool!).

I also had huge problems with Alpinestars boots, one of them S-MX boots, on left foot the metal (or plastic or whatever) plate bent from gear change (or walking, who knows) and it was eating into my foot, it was REALLY painful. That was after 1 season. I still bought Supertech R afterwards and these are good so far.

This may seem a random question, but are these damaged gloves genuine Alpine Stars kit bought from Alpine Stars dealers?

Only reason I ask, I'm looking to replace some very old & well used AS gloves, but have noticed quite a variance of gloves of the same model style. Also a local 'discount' store near me is stocking AS kit, this store often stocks branded clothing which the girlfriend has identified as 2nds/returns due to something on the label.

Not to mention jackets advertised on a local FB Bike sale page which had the AStar logos on the outside but some unheard of label inside.

I just feel there's some sub-standard kit out there with AS branding which are simply fakes.

Just saying as in my experience, 2 pairs of Alpinestars gloves have lasted me 20 years.
