Bike trip abroad. Insurance
Discussion
I'm heading to Portugal for a few days riding. The trip will include a track session at Portamao and some road riding around the hills
I won't be using my own bike, but one I'm borrowing.
Do i need special travel insurance in case I come a cropper, or will normal travel insurance cover medical bills etc? I've had a look through and some want to know about winter sports, but no mention of motorbiking being an excluded activity.

Depends on the policy.I won't be using my own bike, but one I'm borrowing.

My normal annual policy covers personal injury/medical etc on anything up to 125cc & riding any larger bike as long as it's my mode of transport from the UK for the trip & I wear suitable protective clothing. The policy won't however cover hiring/borrowing bikes larger than 125cc or track days etc.
Much reading through reams of Policy Documents has shown that a lot (nearly all) travel insurance covers up-to-125cc, a few do under 500cc or under 750cc. They really bury stuff in the smallprint.
Very few (I can only find two) do cover for bigger bikes - the Post Office does up to 1500cc if you take its extra Hazardous Activities cover. And Flexicover actually cover any capacity as standard as long as you have a full motorcycle licence. There may be more but I couldn't find them.

I have insured with this company for many years.

Not had to use them claim wise but the customer service has always been excellent.
Very few people offer insurance for motorcycles past 125cc as has been said.
