I passed my DAS recently and am still awaiting the return of my licence from DVLA. For some reason I have it in my head that I can't carry a pillion until I get my licence back. Is this crap?

would have thought you're OK to take pillion, provided you are insured?

I did DAS in January and still haven't sent off license - I think/thought as long as you have the pass cert then it's as good as the license.

I dont have it on my insurance, makes it cheaper, but I had to read the small print to spot that little opportunity for them to skip a payout.

no you can't carry until you get your "A" category. This is an endorsable offense, so Iwas told 4 years ago. It may have changed since? also would invalidate your insurance which is an even bigger problem.

Bummer - I'm glad I've not crashed with a pillion yet then. When I was getting my insurance they asked verbally if I would be taking a pillion and I said no, because I thought I probably wouldn't, but now that I've recieved the policy there's no mention of pillions at all - so I've had a few people on the back. Think I'll keep them off from now on until until I clarify the situation. I'll stick to my wheelie practice.

Yesterday I spoke to the ex-police advanced motorcycle instructor who got me through my DAS. He says he's not heard of that restriction, so thought there would be no problem.
After all, you can get rid of the radio gear, bib and L-plates as soon as you walk out of the test centre...

I got pulled up when on my own, had to do a producer - not yet having sent off my license. Was ok, but the nice wpc informed me that I ought to apply ASAP, and that until I got it back, not to carry passengers!

Just that if you are borrowing a bike, you might not be flavour of the month if you try and pull off the L Plates ! ( I did, and was charged for them )
