Hi All
After taking 5hours to get out the carpark at Silverstone last year after the MotoGP, I'm not keen on driving up again
However, I fancy going up on the bike, but wondered if there's anywhere you can then dump your kit so I'm not walking round all day in full bike clobber and sweating my arse off ?
I can't see any options for bike parking booking on the website either, unless Im being Blind
Has anyone done just that in previous years, and can share any experiences of how it all works ?

If it's like when I last went on my bike, there will be helmet and leather parks either side of the road on the way in to the main entrance gate, which is usually where the bike only parking is too.

The helmet and leather parks will more than likely be operated by the Riders For Health charity, and usually they just ask for a modest donation in exchange for their service.

Forgot to mention, last time I went on my bike was 2015, and bike parking was free, just follow the signs when you arrive.

I dont know why anyone worries about this

I just tuck my boots into my jacket and roll the whole lot into a ball behind the front wheel of my bike.

Often with my helmet too as I'm too lazy to lock it to the under seat lock these days.

I can't believe anyone would really want some second hand sweaty bike clothing that is unlikely to fit them. If they really want it that much good luck to them

yeah, I cannot for the life of me see why anyone would want a £500 lid or £150 pair of gloves, that may not fit them but they could sell on ebay for a few hundred just by lifting them up.

I will be heading there in the van for a full on camping weekend. Aiming to get there for about 9am on Friday, missing the traffic and leaving on Monday am

The view of the track is pretty crap but made up for by the atmosphere/beer/clean toilets/£7 burgers

Winner, I'll give you a shout
I'm heading up just on Sunday with my 10year old on my adventure bike (He has leathers and kit for MiniMoto) and we've just booked tickets for Club corner
If it looks like it might be wet, I'll put up with silly queues and go by car too

Like said above, leave kit with bike.

A little more secure than the above, lock helmet & leather jeans through rear wheel of bike (jeans will crumple quite short), put whole lot in a bin bag first, even put helmet in helmet bag too for little protection. Gloves under the seat (or even in helmet, in bags as described above).

I wear a pair of zip off trousers over my boots when walking round, wear or carry jacket. Zip off trouser legs once sat down

It's not a fashion show, if you have to walk for an ice cream wearing race boots & shorts, who cares!

My experience of going to see the bikes for the last few years is that there is always plenty of free parking available and it's pretty well laid out/organised compared with some circuits. Getting into Silverstone is easy, getting out is a pain in the butt and requires patience (especially if in a car).

I ususally wear jeans and take a backpack into which go my gloves and jacket then I leave my helmet in one of the helmet bays (or whatever they're called). Note that they can fill up pretty quickly.

What would be the best place to watch the race with a young kid? Preferably a covered grandstand in a location with good overtaking.

Copse is a favourite of mine, very quick corner nowadays.
Big run off means you'll be far away from the action.
I may have just contradicted myself.

Agreed - if you can get seats that see all the way down the Wellington straight, you get to see the bikes for a long long time compared to a lot of other areas.
