Just seen that.

Cue the "it was safe for the copper to go 155mph, but not them", or "catching someone up by going 155 just proves they were going slower than 155..."

Oh damn. I just did it, didn't I? Still, they knew it was naughty, and the chance of getting caught is there.

9 month ban and a fine surely, the case the other day on the M3 hants with the old boy in the car has set the precident.......

It's daft doing those speeds, not because it is dangerous, per se, but the chance of getting nabbed is very high.

Be interesting to see what they end up getting.

They are silly boys & girls but without knowing how fast they were going it's impossible to say how silly. If they were travelling at 100mph (hardly earth shattering!) and passed the stationary plod it’s going to take him the best part of a minute and a half to catch them up when he accelerates from standstill up to 150+mph. That assumes he started his acceleration at the point they passed him. Sensationalist “tabloid” journalism focusing on an irrelevant number. Let’s see what the courts do.

Many many years ago a police motorcycle cop said somthing similer to me. Truth was I thought he was another biker wanting a race.

I was being a little sarcastic wink

.....of course if you are doing 150mph head down in a group of bikes on a busy dual carriageway then likely you are not worried about whats behind you....

Posted this a while ago in another thread. From what I remember they were on the way to Oulton Park track day. How do they know how fast they were going? Surely catch up speed doesn't count.

Wonder if any of them had cameras to prove they weren’t going 155mph? boxedin

Possibly, but even then I suspect would still be showing speeds in excess of 135mph as even in that footage at c150mph the policeman isn't gaining on them that quickly ....

When the police did catch up with the group, what did it show on the speedo? I can't quite see.
Wouldn't it technically be that they were caught doing the shown speed at that point?

Edited - actually it seems that they were doing about 80, if you can read in between the text that's on the screen.

So 155mph was actually 140mph. Still very silly on that type of road on the UK. Perfecly safe in Germany but that's irrelevant!

86 when the police biker catches up to the pack.

I assume they were measured by some other means than the catch up speed.

I got a telling off in the car once for speeding, the only reason I was going so slow was because there was a fully marked up police bike behind me hehe

He recorded an average of 31 point something mph through a site that was mostly 30 with a stretch of 20 in it.

I try avoid them like the plague unless it's a short stint where you can open it up, brake into a sweepy roundabout and so on

Better still stick to more twisty roads. Good luck to that copper keeping up if a decent lot of bikers get a lick on

I’d have thought these days at that speed you properly get made an example of.

Not just points and a ban but publicly shamed and maybe even threatened with a small spell at her majesty’s pleasure ? Maybe I’m taking bks With that last bit I dunno
