My Superduke GT will be needing its first service soon.
I live near Exeter.
Choices are JD Racing in Saltash, PGH in Torquay, or Fowlers in Bristol where I bought the bike.
Any recommendations?
Should valve clearances be checked at the first service?

It's just an oil change and a general check over. But I would go back to Fowlers to allow them to do the brake recall on it too at the same time. I'm booking mine in this week for it all, but the brake kits are not in til week of 5th.

if it has a recall take back to dealer. But as far as any bikes I have bought from Fowlers they don't go back for a service. from pervious experience and friends experiences

Thanks for the heads up on the recall which I have now read about.
As a matter of interest why would you take the bike back to the supplying dealer for this?

Pretty sure PJH have just lost the KTM contract , Fowler’s or JD it is, Shame there’s no KTM dealer in Exeter as I would have one if there was!

Spooky, mines in for 12 month service tomorrow at 5,000 miles. Set of tyres going on and the dealer said it has a recall for a fuel pump seal . No mention of the brake recall. It’s a 2017 MY GT1290

TBH when there was one in Exeter they weren't much good.

Never had a problem with JD Racing as long as you're thick skinned enough to put up with the banter! That's unfair, JD were very good, sorted a few items under and beyond warranty.

990SD had to have a valve check at 1st service, never needed shims changed in the 10 years I owned it.

Thanks for all replies.
Fowlers have indicated that the problem is with the brake master cylinder - I should await a recall letter.
It looks like JD Racing for the service.

My service and recall is being done Friday, recall parts due in on Thursday.
Hope my dealer knows what they are doing, mine is one of the first, just due to timing.

You'd hope it wouldn't flumox a dealer too much as it's just replacing the piston in the MC...you'd hope.

Will it not be a complete MC to avoid the extra time?

Probably, even less reason for anyone to get it wrong.

KTM service completed today. Master cylinder confirmed recall, dealer said they’d do it on a Saturday morning once the part was in. Also fitted a new seal on fuel pump as an advisory from KTM. Two new Michelin’s and she’s ready for spring.....

The incompetency of Fowler's knows no bounds unfortunately

Are Fowlers that bad?

You'd recommend another motorcycle dealer in those parts?

KTM specific, but:

Fowlers were unable to fix the throttle issue on my bike after several visits, two recoveries to the dealer, and literally a few months (I think I have ridden every courtesy bike at Fowlers).

I had the bike taken to Premier Bikes near Oxford, and they diagnosed and fixed it within a week.

Just my experience though. KTM customer services were actually very helpful.

Anyone know what is the typical 18000 mile service cost for the 1290SDGT? Includes valve check which looks like it requires a fair bit of work to get access to cylinder heads. Has anyone found that valve clearances have been out of spec at 18k? My bike now almost 3 years old and 17k miles so options are pay up for dealer service, take the plunge and do it myself, or use nuclear option and trade for new bike.....
