I'm after a set of 'no cut' crash bungs for the Blade - I don't want to cut the faring as I may sell the bike soon.... I've seen 2 write ups in the last couple of months but can't remember the make..

It's not Motrax & it's not Harris.... does anyone know who does them?

I just fitted some motrax double hard bungs to my 2000 blade and they just replaced a couple of engine mount bolts and required no cutting.

Regards,

Mark

R&G do reasonable crash bungs that actually "work", but I don't know how they fit to a 'Blade.

I can certainly vouch for R&G crash bungs, which I have tested on my '03 Blade. They protected my crank case, upper fairing, bar ends, indicator stalks and mirrors. Like dern's, mine were trivial to fit, requiring no cutting.

Certainly any bung worth its salt must be bolted to the frame and there will be at least one pair of screw-mounting positions on your frame ready to receive bungs. Whether you have to cut your fairing will clearly depend on these positions.

Don't be tempted to compromise just for the sake of avoiding cutting your fairing. If you're serious about selling your bike in the near future then perhaps that’s an argument for taking it easy and staying away from tracks. Ergo no need for bungs and modified fairing panels.

Check out R&G's website and it will tell you (a) what bungs are suitable for your bike, and (b) how/where to mount them. Go with their recommendations.

Looks like the blade from 00 to 03 uses the engine mount point (remove engine mount bolt and replace with bung) but the 04 requires drilling of the fairing.

An,

I have been looking at these for mine:

www.rhencullen.net/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Crash_protection_188.html

They do not require drilling. Apparently.

The guy from Infinity's new accessories dept needs a kick up the aris. He suggested that if they were not R&G that they were useless and were not worth it.

I Don't want to drill my fairing! TWAT.

Another vote for R&G. As soone who's had the misfortune to test their products, I can confirm they make a difference. I don't see why a buyer would moan about you having fitted them provided the job was done well. My guess is that R&G would not choose to go through the fairing lightly, but if it's the only way to get to a sensible mounting point that's what they'll do.

Cheers,

Steve

Thanks for the feedback chaps, James - they are the ones I was after... I'm definately not going to cut the faring - I've only got the California Superbike School next week booked & then I need to make a decision on selling...

As for that champion fat wit in Infinity (Greg) - he's managed to single handedly pi$$ off half his customer base in Guildford, the new bloke has made a huge difference - now they've moved Greg to Farnborough & he's already had people walk out in disgust before buying anything - personally I wouldn't even walk in the door after the way he treated me 2 years ago - why they still employ him I really don't know?? Make your feelings known to them! even other staff complain about the high ******* of customers complaining about him!!!

Noooooooo!! Anything shy of a 911 (996) is going to leave you feeling deflated after bike ownership. I had a 321bhp M3 for two years and is not a scratch on just popping out for a gentle spin on something as lowly as the Duke.

All aside, if you want a good deal on a 911 my friend works for a supercar supplier in Egham and would be able to source a good deal for you.

Thanks babe

It's kind of a toss up between being totally irresponsible (car) and buying a sensible investment flat. Not sure which yet?? but thanx for the offer of contact - always good

P.S. if anyone is toying with the idea of a blade - drop me a line

I showed my R&G bungs to my skateboarding friend, and she said "why have you got comp wheels on your bike"

apparantly they are standard skateboard wheels, and the attachment is a very basic bar that any metal worker can churn out.

not to say they arent good though, but crash bungs really arent worth the hype they get.

A lot of Supermoto and motoX riders use skateboard wheels on their bikes - a fraction of the cost - as long as you mount them in the correct position.

I should really read the full thread before asking questions that have been asked already.

I've thought about the 911, but since I like to tail-slide a car I think I'd end up going backwards through a hedge if I bought one.

It's the usual heart/head dilemma really then? Well, I think sod it. Life's for living and as has been said before about savings and investments, you can't take them with you...
