Finally a few pics of the Thunderace
Discussion
Bit boring a know but here are a few pics of the bike , not quite a track tool but a fecking good road bike
its 1 year older than my old ZX6R 10k compared to 27K of my ZX6R and its been treated like a baby since new ! got it for a strightswap with the ZX6 as the guy wanted a smaller bike for trackdays !
Was like new when i got it but im slowly altering that ! bike cleaning never was a strong point
standard can has been replaced with a carbon can co. road legal jobbie (for stealthness) along with the indicators which were different front and rear as it has an undertray . also came with harris rearsets which are horrid so im trying to find some standard thunderace jobbies to replace them with

Christ. The trouble I had replacing the brake lines on my Suzuki. There was some pretty fruity language to be heard!
Sorry, just noticed i've still got a picture of my Bandit on my profile - part exchanged it last week, now got this:
It's got 6 pot Tokicos on it and braided lines, but the lever still comes far too far back to the bar. Proving to be a right git to bleed properly.

I don't know how the lines run on those. But if you can, you can take the calipers off and hold them above the master cylinder
It may be enough just to take them off and turn them upside down
I thought design had got beyone that sort of shenanigans until a few weekends ago when I helped Mr Plotloss do the disks and pads on his VX220

My Suzi had one line to one caliper and a loop over to the other. The replacement kit I bought had two equal length lines for the front so I moved the splitter up to the master cylinder.
It took me about 30 mins to change the lines and around 3 hours to bleed them.
Oh, and I can confirm that brake fluid doesn't immediately wreck your paintwork - thankfully!! You do have a chance to rinse it off. Last time I try using an Eezi Bleed on a bike.

Dave,
You could try a two line setup, with a line from the master cylinder to each caliper. I use Bike Torque Racing (www.biketorqueracing.co.uk) for a lot of my bits and bobs. They should be able to help.
Steve.

Brings back memories!
I bought one of these new back in 1996/7 in silver/black. Watch out for the end-can as the leading edge touched down on the road quite a few times leaving brown marks everywhere.
Also managed to snap the front off the rear brake lever by clipping the ground with it (possibly why yours has rearsets?).
They are great bikes and hugely under-rated IMO.

Hi,
Seriously old thread I realise but I got redirected here from google images when I recognised my number plate in the results. Looks like you used to own my Thunderace!
Thought I'd let you know she's still running great and in daily use on the road, 59k on the clock at present and passed her 20th MOT last month with no advisories. Still a great bike.
Cheers,
James
