Has anyone got a leather jacket by them (Icon) ?

I am thinking about buying an Icon Motorhead Crest Jacket.

What are the quaility of these jackets like ? Also is there a good amount of arm / shoulder and back protection ?

to get a better look of the particular jacket I am talking about click the link below...

Purely from the description it sounds Ok, does it have a back plate in position??

Having said that I'm not sure about the design... Each to their own but I think it looks a wee bit tacky...

I found another jacket by them which looks nicer in my opinion...

I guess I am into the badges thing

My current jacket is a spyke but I think it looks a bit dull and I need something which is a bit more interesting.

By the sound of it the padding seems to be all there.. to quote the site...

"The Neo-Daytona Jacket is built with both performance and comfort in mind.
It's cut and armored for the serious rider, yet styled almost as if it was a casual wear coat."

Louis,

Is this a race rep jacket or cruiser jacket?

I don't think it knows what it wants to be! & like twit said before, it does look tacky - personally I woudn't be seen in a jacket with flames & a skull on the back!!

I can see what you both mean by how tacky the other one looked. A bit 'OTT' the design was I think.

I'd be concerned buying kit I'd never heard of & didn't know what the construction process was - i.e. stitching, seams, body armour (not padding!!) they all look like those fakey fashion jackets you get in 'leather land' type shops in places like Woking.

Is there a reason you're buying from USA? you won't get a chance to make sure it fits properly - if it doesn't fit it's not going to offer much protection.

I haven't made up my mind yet as to whether that would be the jacket I get. I would also find a dealer a bit closer to home

I agree with you on the angle that with these jackets you could be buying the design and not the protection. Maybe I will look at a CLover or Arlen Ness instead

At least you'd have someone to shout at if it fell to bits after a week!

Hi,

The prices of these are up to $600. For that money, you could probably go to Crowtree ( www.crowtreeleathers.co.uk ) or even Hideout ( www.hideout-leather.co.uk ) and get the very highest quality jacket, individually made for you. I imagine you could show 'em a picture of the design you like and get your jacket made to that design. Definitely what I'd do.

Speaking of custom-made bike clothing, does anyboy know what's up with GTS Race Gear ( www.gtsracegear.co.uk ) at the mo? Their web site has gone to pot!

Cheers
