Well, the decision of, do I run my K1300S for another year or do I buy an alternative has, 100%, been made for me.

On the way home from work on Monday evening, at about 20:25 and half a mile from home, I suddenly became aware that my HID powered full beam was full of a very large stag, going at full tilt across my path and only about 10ft away. The stag/bike interface happened at about the middle of the stag and I would love to say the rest is a blur, but the rest simply isn't there. The next thing I remember is being sat down in the estate rear of a car that (I later discovered) belonged to a doctor who worked at our local hospital, as it happens, in the department run by my wife.

A blow in the bag for plod (they arrived first) was followed by a ride in the ambulance to the hospital for a full CT scan. 5 broken ribs and a bit of bruising was the damage to me but, as you can see, I don't think my bike will be seen alive again!

PS The deer was never found but the amount of hair on the bike and guts on the road suggests it wasn't in a good way.

Ouch! At least you're up & typing, that's the main thing. Hope the aches & pains aren't too bad.

There are too many deer in this country.

A friend of mine hit a deer too and it put them out of action for a few months.

Ouch, hope you heal up soon!

The bike doesn’t look too bad though - presume insurance will write it off however?

Sorry about your collision.

Tough break. Glad you are not in a worse way. Better than putting yourself into a tree trying to avoid it!

Anyway, new bike, new bike!

Having a poo with broken ribs is a bit painful. Don't try to squeeze it out, just let it flow if ya know what I mean.

Laughing hurts too, should I bring my tickling stick.

Glad you're ok. Could have been a lot worse.

Make sure you take a really good vitamin over the next few months, and avoid anyone with the lurgy. You really don't want a cold with broken ribs. I've been there.

Get well soon.

Wow, congratulations and commiserations I suppose!

I've hit a deer with a car and the damage is amazing, not surprised to see your bike in such a state, shame though as it looked lovely...

Heal up and get on the BB bandwagon and buy a 765RS? biggrin
