Topbox mount snapped

Anyone else come across this? Honda (I think made by Shad) top box mount snapped this morning on way in. Thankfully noticed when I arrived and it was hanging on by paint, didn't have to go chase my workshirts blowing about on the M11. Never overloaded etc and just under 3 years old...

My Givi topbox mount broke the subframe mount that it was attached to on my old VFR800. I had to buy a second hand subframe. Then I got a replacement frame kit from Givi (for free thankfully) and it had additional support struts on it. Wonder why...? From memory I think something went wrong with that one as well but I can't remember.

A lot depends on the mounting points for the individual bike, what you put in it etc.

check with dealer Honda have had lots of recalls and issues with some boxes

Interesting- I did have a google around looking for stuff on recalls etc but couldn't see anyone else having similar issues. Looks like a trip to Motoden for a second opinion in order. Once I've worked out ratchet strapping it on without scratching all the remaining paint off...

Ha! Maybe Motoden don't get this year's customer service award. Sum total of email back:

"The warranty for accessories is limited to 1 year.

Would you like me to price up a replacement rack for you?"

No, funny enough I think I'll give it a miss, rather than see my topbox roll past when the next one snaps...

Unfortunately my S W Motech adapter plate failed, they replaced it as a gesture of goodwill but not my top box
