Bought one around 6 weeks ago now and approx 100 miles left before 1st service.
Amazing and very capable bike I’m very impressed with it.
It’s comfy, handles brilliantly, and feels very responsive / fast.
Don’t hesitate, just go and buy one, you will not be disappointed....

Cheers .

Did you try a KTM Superduke at all as a comparison ? I'm not sure the KTM has as much appeal for me and its not got the same charisma ?

Ridden one a couple of times. Along with the BMW HP2 Sport, it ranks as the best road bike i've ever ridden. Wonderful thing.

My mate I'm out with every week has the 2018 1200S. His is Euro 4 and I assume yours is Euro 3 and a 2016-2017 model?

He's had a few electrical issues. On tour his fuel gauge would keep reading empty and at one point his TC/ABS stopped working, turned the bike off left it and when it went back on it was fine. It was an hour into a ride

He said its a pig between 2nd and 1st when going down the 'box and has had a few false neutrals but another one of my lot rides the 'boat' Multistrada and said his was fine after about 6k

Otherwise he seems happy

Cheers I guess there can be issues with all bikes.

The RS has had a few niggles (not mine tbf) and the gearbox is proper clunky but its dead easy to ride and its a cool looking thing.

I may be a used R and run the pair of them

I test rode the 1200R on my local hills back-to-back with BMW S1000R.
I am no expert, just an average biker, but 1200R felt more agile than S1000R, felt like it steers faster.

I went into this test ride expecting a pronounced twin-y behaviour at low rpms (having ridden Diavel/XDiavel/Monsters of all kind/899/1199/1299 and my gf still has her 696M) but I was pleasantly surprised, somehow it came across very smooth during that one ride.

I liked 1200R, quite a nice piece of machinery, even though personally I am smitten with Speed Triple RS, which, like S1000R, can be ordered with heated grips from factory, an option that, imho, cannot be praised high enough!

Also, 1200R looks nicer than S1000R.

Oh, forgot, 1200R was quieter than S1000R. :-)

Definitely needs Termis I think for the full effect.

Pretty bikes no question and 160HP? no slouch. Ticks a lot of boxes I think...then again so does my 900 RS but I miss the grunt of that Ducati lump

The best bike I've owned and the best sounding with the Termis fitted.

Unfortunately, I may have to sell mine to fund a project. It's an 18 plate with only 1100 miles on the clock.

PM me if you're interested.

Pics out today of the new kid on the block https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Is that the sort of thing that would temp folks away from Ducatis and the like to the dark side?

The Indians I like but not as much soul for me .

How about the S model monster . The 2017 model gets quick shifter that the R doesn’t have ?

I've just traded in my Monster 821 for one.

Registered Jan 2018, 3300 miles, Termi's and race map installed by the previous owner. Rode the KTM Superduke but I just couldn't get over the looks. The Monster wins the looks contest hands down for me. I rode the Monster 1200S and didn't think the quickshifter was as good as the KTM so decided to go with my heart and sack off the quickshifter and get the 1200R.

Collecting it at the end of this week hopefully.

Ohhh lovely bet you can’t wait and top spec too .

Have you test ridden the R? I’m interested in your thoughts VS the S.

Very envious

Not ridden the R yet, took the demo S out for an hour and took a leap of faith that the R would be noticeably better. I hope I'm proved right. The salesman tried getting me to buy a new S (guess they make better commission selling new rather than used?) but I kept coming back to the R, which was cheaper than a new S. I'll stick some thoughts and pictures in this thread once I've got it.

Brilliant really looking forward to those and enjoy the collection
