At the ripe old age of 42, I have just booked in for my CBT.

Only ever ridden pillion before, so being in charge of the controls, is going to be a new experience.

Just felt like sharing with the group.

Well done! I was 45 when I first sat on a motorbike and did my CBT. Never looked back!

Welcome, welcome...in anticipation of your next question: Deauville if you're some kind of boring numpty, Street Triple (R if you have the dosh) if you're not.

My best mate announced that he fancied getting a bike last year. He's 45 and within about 3 months he managed to get his full license and a bike! He spends more time cleaning it than riding it but fair play. Came out of the blue for him and maybe a mid life crisis but good luck to you.

45, that's nothing! I did my CBT last Saturday and I'm 59. I still think I'm 18 .

46 When I did my CBT (previous experience being a pillion on a motorcycle taxi in Vietnam), did my theory and MOD1 and 2 soon after , actually months apart, and in my 2nd year of riding, loving it. A older head helps I think.

I'm aspiring to think I'm 18...I'm 53 and still think I'm 17 when I'm on the bike!

I did my DAS recently at the age of 41, never had any interest in, but woke up one morning and thought sod it, went and booked it, passed the following month.
Ride most days (wish I could go out more, but too many kids to take to school 😀)

Did mine yesterday at age 36.. did 150 miles today on my little Yamaha up to and around the Lake District. Great experience so far, looking forward to getting my A license (via DAS in the spring) and my first proper bike.

Did DAS about 6/7 years ago never having ridden a bike and never liked them. Just for commuting you understand. Last year saw 100k on my bike and this year I completed having visited every country in Europe without visa requirements and some with.
You won't like it, it will be rubbish...

Charlie and Ewen have a lot to answer for, from my point of view!

I did my CBT three years ago at 38 after losing the ability to park my car at work. A colleague talked me in to it and I was sceptical at first, having never had any interest in bikes. Within six months I passed my DAS and bought a Tiger 800. It's been a revelation; my commutes have become something to enjoy rather than dread, so it's taken a lot of stress out of my daily life and replaced it with something positive.

The one thing I would suggest to the OP is crack straight on with the DAS - it opens up a world of opportunities once you move beyond 125s, and I wish I'd done it immediately, rather than waiting to see if I'd get on with riding.

3 workmates have got Triples and they love them.
TBH, I really want a Bullit Hero I know it's only a 125. But I don't care.

Although down the line, I like the idea of a BMW R nine T Scrambler.

Yes, I'm a sucker for the retro style bikes.

A
You'll not want a 125 about 1 min after you sit on a 650cc.

My mate bought a 650cc Suzuki as his first bike and less than a year later he's on about trading up for a bigger engined machine.
