Hi all,

Need to remove my end cap to drill out the screw holding in the baffles on my Akrapovic exhaust (S-B12SO16-HAABL for 1200GS) - over tightened and then run hard and they are well and truly stuck. Tried many other methods to get them out and this is my last resort.

Anyone know the spec for the rivets? They are smaller than the ones holding the strap. The flange is about 6-6.5mm and they are black. I know I need blind rivets but do they have to be stainless steel, will Aluminium head, zinc plated steel mandrel be ok? These seem to fit the bill https://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Aluminium-Steel-Bli...

Once I know the hole size, planning to drill them out. Have seen on YouTube that sometimes they start spinning - any tips on getting them out if that happens without damaging the end cap - can't seem to get a replacement for this model online anywhere.

Thanks

Darius

They should be fine as replacements, the cap itself won't get that hot anyway.

For drilling out my preferred method is to use a nice sharp bit as close to the width of the hole as possible. Cover the area in masking tape in case the drill slips or the rivet starts rotating with swarf around it.

Might be worth starting with one round the back so you can have it a bit messy without it being a disaster to the eye.
