Best sounding bikes of the past?
Discussion
Of the bikes i've personally owned, my Triumph T160V Trident 750 triple with Hyde 3 into 1 was right up there. My current RG500 sounds a total beast above 6,000 rpm. Who could forget the CBX with a 6 onto 1, that was just mind-blowingly good to hear. Oh and my current CBR250RR when it's above 17,000 rpm is epic.
We’ve got a Mk1 KTT the same as this which sounds the same - on the road.

Just about anything with the 955i Triumph triple but I quite like the sound of a Strontium Yellow T595 with that engine and a Triumph Off Road (TOR) can.
Can't really say mine sounded anything special really.....It was OK.

Personally I like the sound of a good old British single burbling along, Like a Velocette Thruxton or Royal Enfield.
Something nice about a rough carb'd jap 4 pot
Given I'm still just out of nappies I don't remember some of these 70s and early 80s bikes some of you oaps talk of...
But as an early 00s bike my Benelli Tornado Tre 900 was honestly like porn cracking that thing open
Wasn't very quick but I felt like a hero every time I opened it up

Sweet music, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o57JwibqCb8 1966 Honda 250

Edit to add .. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7d3hdDgFMrQ Fascinating Japanese documentary on the 250 , 18 minutes in they weigh a cylinders exhaust system, 1/2 a kilo.

A big two stroke does sound amazing. A TZ750 at full bore is great, especially when you hear it cough and splutter at low speed then clear it’s throat and howl off up a straight.
An original Triumph Triple or BSA Rocket 3 on an open mega is good too.
Personally I love big single cylinder bikes as I love the over run sound too

Yes, the standard exhaust does suck a lot of the character out of the noise but the induction noise is pretty good. A high level TOR is generally regarded as the can to have and they're quite sought after now. I still have the standard can in my garage but I don't think I'll ever use it again unless I really start to use my bike overnight a lot.

I've only had 2 proper bikes and loved the noise of both for different reasons and at different end of the bike
97 ZX6R - howl of the induction pipework under your chin was just intoxicating and egged you into staying up there.
XR1200 - Vance and Hines widow 2-1-2 give this a lovely rasp above 4.5k and gets rid of the usual harley thud thud thud at low rpm
