Interesting start! Predictions?

Shame about Cal, he was going fast and looked good for the weekend.

I love PI. Even though it's super early on Sunday morning, I'll be awake for it.

I think Ianone could be top 3 this weekend.

in the prelim, Commentators on BT were talking about cal and saying what a great year he has had, not really made any mistakes! Are we talking about the same Cal?!!. He's over riding that bike most of the time and hence seems to have had a fair few trips to the kitty litter, as is normal for him! GWS Cal

They are British, the focus on Brits on BT sport is tired, pathetic and rather worrying.

Do they really think the only reason people watch is because of Brits, Jesus wept it's 2018 not the 80's.

Yes, BT sport demographic and survey data tells them that a large pull for BT Sport MotoGP subscriptions in the UK is to follow British riders, its not the only reason but its a big one.

Do you have a Twitter account ? I'd love to follow that, you are the PHBB equivalent of Cal himself, speak first, engage brain later ....

Well, if that is the case then I suppose they are playing to the lowest common denominator.

Why on earth would I be on Twitter, Jesus it's awful.

If they are posting on there, what makes you think it's going to be any different from the tv channel? It's the same bloody people!

Do people in Britain only watch F1 because of Lewis Hamilton? Surely not. I have never watched any sport because Brits do well, I watch MotoGP depending on who is winning, and the smaller classes to see emerging talent and good racing, couldnt care less if Brits are doing well and it rather annoyed me when the sympathy extend to McPhee, Lowes et al when they crash all the time, yet when others do it, "he's a crasher"

I could get it if Brits were amazingly successful in MotoGP, but they are not really, not to the extent Fogarty was or Hodgson. But I guess most are fairly blinkered and get their Cal flags and jackets out every time they watch lol.

Bizarre

Can we please keep this thread directed towards the racing? Not just about who we dislike...

Pedrosa to KTM, first time in his adult life he won't be on Honda-backed machinery. I'd love for him to get a win before the end of the year, what a career he's had

Good luck with that ....

I think Dani has won his last race, a shame as I'd loved to have seen him bag one this year as his career deserves at least that, hopefully KTM will benefit massively from his input ....... next year will be interesting.

As for PI, I think an outsider may nick this one, just gut feel ...

He's won a race in 16 consecutive seasons - that's staggering. I'd love for him to make that 17, but I agree, he's probably won his last. He's struggling to get heat in the tyres due to his size apparently, combined with riding a bike that's (understandably) being designed around Marquez. Still a Red Bull rider, though = €€€€€€!

I reckon this is Viñales' best chance of a win in a long time. He'll win it or bin it, I rate.

Vinales has become a real disappointment, after such an electrifying start. I can't help but think there is more than the obvious, ie the Yam is not as developed as it should be, but cant see that Rossi bless his heart was happy at this new guy turning up in testing on a new to him bike and wiping the floor with everyone. He has a huge influence at Yamaha...……

Maybe it is why Zarco is a bit second rate now also?

Anyway, whilst Moto GP goes though its hiatus of Marquez domination and slight boredom, although his antics are often no boring, I cannot help but wonder if old Mav should have moved on from Yam last year...…….imagine him on that Ducati that Lorenzo has "retired" from!

It is with some dismay for the excitement of the class, but I can honestly see Marc wrapping up 2019 with 5 or 6 races to go next year. Who are the contenders now? I just don't see any, unless we see miracles from the new guys coming in. Even then surely it wil only be at isolated races, Suzuki, new Petronas yam etc? KTM next ytear……. I just cannot see any change coming even with Zarco there.

I'm sad that CC is out, he's been one of my favourite riders since he first appeared in MotoGP. I don't mind that he bins it in every other race or that he speaks in an interesting mid Atlantic accent these days, on his day he's unstoppable. Which is one race day in 10.

Phillip Island is a super circuit, didn't Iannone headbutt a seagull there a few years back?

I’m confused by the dislike of Marquez domination and the way it’s described. Nobody was complaining when Rossi was dominating, in fact there was uproar when first Hayden, then Stoner took titles away from him.

Both the Yamaha riders have to look in the mirror around their development work. It seems to me that the Yamaha has got noticeably worse the longer it is since Lorenzo left, whereas the Ducati has done the opposite and got better the longer that he’s there. Is Zarco really second rate, or has he got a bike that’s underdeveloped? With Tech 3 moving to KTM, I can’t see Yamaha handing them all the good parts.

The comment about “retired from the Ducati” appears to be a subtle dig too. Would you ride with a broken arm and ligament damage? Unless you’re 100% nowadays, you won’t succeed in a race, even something as simple as braking ten metres earlier will see you at the back of the field inside a couple of laps.

Surely you have to admire MM, he is always happy, gives it 100% and pushes the bike to the limit.

It'll be another MM win, or even Rins as an outsider.

MV asked for different engine for 2018 (Zarco engine), he did not get it.

These theories about JL and Yamaha...if the granny had the balls she would be a granddad

And Tech3. Maybe Red Bull will get Marquez onto KTM after his Honda contract finishes? And it'll get Marquez the added possibility of world champion with two different manufacturers!

I agree on Yam, much as I admire Rossi, I think it highly likely Zarcos and Mavs fortunes are very much dependant on ROssi's say so.

It's not really a dig at George, just as I see it, he is demob happy now, and has been since his "marquez made me crash moment". Id not be surprised if we have seen the last on him on a Duke, and that is very sad as I rate him on it. Remember, this is the same guy who broke his collarbone at Assen in FP2, flew home, got it pinned, raced Sunday and got what 5ht or 6th? I think it sad he is going to Honda.

I'm not convinced people did not complain in the Rossi doniation years........they did. MotoGP was dead on its arse specatatorwise for years, as the racing was shyte, whereas WSB was massive.....now it has reversed totally...….but I can see the signs already that people are getting a bit frustrated or bored with it. This tyre management, no consistent and realistic competition for the championship, hence my comment rev Mav, who I had money on for his first year with Yam, last few years we have been spoiled, 10 winners in one season, last round showdown, Rossigate, Marquez the villan etc.........But until we get a talent like Mav, George even maybe Rossi on a well developed and contender bike, Marquez can only lose the championship himself. Same as Hamilton in F1. It's jst how I see it, and its a proper shame.

I hope George does a Jenson Button and buys himself out of his Honda ride, he cannot contend with Marquez on that bike, and Honda wont let him......on the Duke, I would have my money on him next year, I really would. And a talent like Mav has become Ben fking Spies!
