Really interested in this, had 2 KTMs, and theyve always got a certain character about them. I've done the 950, done the 1050 and whilst I'd love an 1190 (which I may get), the smaller capacity/lighter weight stuff just seems to have a certain appeal.

1190 is a cracking bike and you'd not regret it.....

I've got my 1190R up for sale and am absolutely gutted. Best bike I've ever had, or even ridden. It may not be their prettiest, but it certainly is better than the 9x0s on the road. I do like the idea of the 790 so it may be a suitable replacement in time until funds allow for the big one again.

If they can get this 790 under 200kg and around 80hp, it should be good though. I'm also pretty keen on the idea of the new Yamaha mid-weight ADV

Wonder if this'll have the same but detuned engine out of the 790 Duke?

Would definitely like one of these as an upgrade from my CB500x - I need more power now, but will miss the Honda's economy.

I think it's the same LC8c engine as 790 Duke.

Shame the video has the SMC 690 R before it. Too much choice, too much temptation can lead to analysis paralysis.

I don't think so. They released the details, but it's not actually available to buy for at least a year I believe. Hence the KTM is first.

Well its listed on the Yamaha site with the rest of their models, the 790 was announced this time last year and was available in April, so it will only be a few months difference I would guess.

The new SMC does look rather spanking!

The 790 looks like it doesn't even get a power decrease, presumably a slightly tamer map for more off-road compatibility but the peak is the same.

Great looking machines.

790 Adventure is 189kgs and 70 kw (94bhp ish)

790 Duke is 169kgs and 77 kw (105bhp ish)

So a bit more weight and a bit less power but should still feel lively for its class.

Quite liking the look of the 790 Adventure R, so maybe one for the garage in a couple of years time.

Those kw bhp conversions are well out.

I wonder how much the R is going to be.

Figures amended.
RRP on 790 Duke 8499? RRP on 1090 Adventure R 12199? I reckon on low to mid 10’s for R.

Sorry, having a brainfart looking at the 690/SMC690R.

Dealer stock unregistered 1090Rs on ebay for under £10k...assume a new model is coming out?

790s power to weight ratio is almost identical to my old 950SM so it should be exciting. Definitely on the list..

Doesn't look like it. Most of the bikes at www.KTM.com have been updated to MY19's and the 1090 is still MY18.

Can't imagine they're a big seller for KTM in this country and KTM always start discounting some of their bikes this time of year.
