So end of the first day, and we've seen Lorenzo on a Honda, Zarco on the KTM and the new kids riding the wheels off their new bikes. Thoughts?

Tomorrow assuming it stays dry we will see the big names on factory bikes up the pace. 1m 29s is the pole from the last dry race so that's got to be their target. Then we will see who emerges from the rest. I am backing Morbidelli and MIR and Bagnaia as the surprises to emerge from the rest and be around 0.7s from the fastest regular established runners.

Expect normal service from:-

Marquez
Vinales
Rossi
Rins
Dovi
Petrucci
Millar

All within 2/10ths

Lorenzo will get to grips with the Honda and end up equal to Bradl time wise. Around 4/10ths off.

Next group will be a tight fight between

Zarco
Espargaro A
Espargaro P
And the new boys.
All within 6 or 7/10ths

Morbidelli is going to replace one of the factory Yamaha riders when they leave.
Rabat can't get on his bike without help but still on good times.
Bagnaia looked very comfortable and smooth, he probably has Lorenzo to thank for that.
Mir already pushing Rins.
Miller looked happy with his new bike, they packed up early before the rain came only did 19 laps.
Lorenzo looked smooth on the Honda but then he wasn't pushing it to the limit due to his still injured hand. He still has that to look forward to.
Iannone, spring is wound back, toys have been loaded.
Folger waving to Tech3 as he went past.
Bradl on Cal's LCR Honda is a day too late for the race.
Yamaha, a day to late for the whole year. Vinales said the 2019 engine is good.
Smith's test Aprilia looks like it's got some top end speed.

Last half hour tomorrow if it's dry will be interesting to see if anyone wants to put down a marker for the others to think about over Christmas.

I think you gents have summed it up well. I'm very impressed by Bagnaia and Mir. Morbidelli is definitely one to watch for next season for me. Lorenzo, I fancy a cheeky punt on next years title. He seems very happy with the Honda. Looking forward to tomorrow now, as said, let's hope it's dry!

Was there yesterday (back in work today!). I was there for the GP but spent an hour or two there around lunch-time yesterday with only Zarco buzzing around at that point.

If you ever get to Valencia it's worth staying for the test a) it's free b) it's like watching a trackday but with the best riders on the planet!

Folger got bored and decided to try and do some development of his own on his Yamaha.

"Hi Susan. I was a bit bored so I dismantled my Yamaha M1. I can't put it back together again. Will that show up on my bill?"

Zarco was a bit disappointing. I'm not convinced he is what everyone thinks he is.

Although he did bin it a few times when the faster laps were going in.

Going from a stiff aluminium beam chassis Yamaha with a comparatively nice front end to a spring steel trellis chassis and a lack of front end feel will give many rider a headache until they change their style and he was already copying Lorenzo to ride the Yamaha, he just needs to change again.

The commentators were saying Yamaha lost their way developing the M1 two years ago.
Lorenzo left the project two years ago.

Faster than the old Honda powered ones too...

Let's see how reliable they are. Those Honda engines seemed indestructible.
