Hi All,

Anyone have any experiences of year round commuting on one of these? K1300GT

I hear that BMW servicing is very expensive, I usually do all my own servicing, any reason why I couldn't? BTW: I normally wear bikes out so residual values don't really come into the equation.

Thanks

Tim

I never commuted on mine and can't remember if I used it in winter, but did have issues with helmet wind noise that an aftermarket screen never resolved. The knee tuck position was also tighter than I expected for a tourer which was a literal pain on longer high speed rides. Not exactly a lightweight and I did struggle with low speed manoeuvres, but likely not an issue for a more experienced rider.

I extended the warranty every year due to scary stories about repair costs on the electronic adjusting suspension. I was never convinced of the net benefits of it, but may be more useful bid you rode with pillion and luggage.

ESA fixes are VERY expensive if you get a BMW dealer to do them. MCT in Stowmarket will do a full shock repair/overhaul for a small number of hundreds of pounds so no more expensive that any other shock.

Major service on my K1300S was about £420, which was considerably less than I was quoted for my Triumph.
