What is the old race bike ? Make--cc--2 stroke--4 stroke--what series did it used to run in etc.
If for example it is a TZ500 or YZR500 then I know Trevor Tilbury who was Crew Chief for Kenny Roberts and was with Yamaha Europe up until they relocated from Holland to Italy at the start of the Valentino Rossi era.
He has a workshop where he could easily do something.
Or if it is another make of GP Bike there is Nigel Everit who was a Suzuki GB mechanic and has done lots of restorations.
Chris Wilson is one of UK's most avid collectors of ex GP Bikes and knows everyone for parts etc. I recently sold him the Marelli Dash that I bought at the Foggy Auction so he could reunite it with the Troy Corser Foggy FP1 race bike he has.
So as you can see Meester Doom there are a lot of skilled peeps in UK just need direction on what it is.

Knowing a few people is what happens when you are getting on a bit, been in or around the motorcycle/motorsport industry for 40 yrs plus. Oh and it also happens to many of the non millennial generation who still actually meet people and form relationships not an online persona, however agreeable or disagreeable either is.So in summary yes I do happen to know a guy etc.

Fully agree with that, through my real world network I can get most stuff resolved or pointed in the right direction for a solution, its old school, nowadays people just post a cryptic clue on a forum and hope for 'virtual crowd solutioning' .....
I know the OP fairly well. In "shock horror" we have actually met in person and more than once too. I was involved in an earlier bike upgrade programme for him a few years ago but that sadly took much longer than anyone anticipated so I would prefer to simply make introductions and not be a sort of Project Manager on this occasion.I now also know what it is he is trying to achieve. Using a Japanese 750cc 4 cyl 4 stroke he wishes to modernise the running gear and upgrade the capacity
to give him something unique and special.
I have made some suggestions on who to contact so its now up to him to decide on a route.
