Trackday novice!
Discussion
I managed to get down to Brands Hatch for the track evening on Tuesday and all I can say is ......Who said that was good for a beginner! The first time round Paddock hill bend, I thought I was done for, It's like riding off the end of the world!
Seriously though it was enjoyable, but next time I think I'll have to go to a full day when there's a dedicated novice group as some of the guys in the novice/inter group were way too fast!

I think it was more down to me than the circuit. With having some of the intermediates in the group, it was quite intimidating, cos compared to me they were damn fast
Like I say though I think a full day in a novice group with people of a similar ability and I should have it sorted. It's a shame really cos it was a great day. Work an early shift, nice ride round to Brands, then finish the day with a track session

~Next time you go out, make sure you go out with an instructor or get their advice. They are usually ex racers and most are pretty friendly. Normally they will help you learn turn in and clipping points (apex). A good tip is to try and be as smooth as possible and use all of the track.
Also, have a lot of faith in your tyres - for 9 out of 10 people, the tyres are better than they are. Remember the old addage, "you go where you look". If you feel you are running wide, gently ease ON the throttle (not OFF) and look round the corner. Once you've done it once, it'll give you more confidence in what the bike is capable of.
Most of all - have fun!

I'm doing Brands Indy on 13th June - good for a beginner (such as myself) with No Limits
BTW - what tyre pressure should I drop front & rear prior to track use......the tyres will be slightly warm from the ride there. In the past I've dropped about 10psi both F & R although it's was a stab in the dark & felt OK when fully warmed up.
TIA
