Second hand bike from dealer with MOT advisory
Discussion
Looking for some advice/opinions on this. I put a deposit down on a bike not having seen it yet but the dealer will treat the delivery as opportunity to view the bike.
Having got the registration mark I checked it's MOT history and found that on the last MOT and on one two years previously there was an advisory for headstock bearings for having a 'notch / sticky'.
Since this is only an advisory should I be expecting this to be addressed by the dealer? Or should we be splitting the cost because it's only an advisory?
This is the first time I've bought second hand from a dealer so not sure what I should expect. For perspective, the bike is 19 years old and has only 9,000 miles.
Cheers.

Might just need adjusting.
If not by the time you have got to the point where you can grease them you may as well renew them.
I'm a cynic so I think if you raise it with the seller they will just tighten it up, at best.
If you haven't gone to the point of no return on negotiations try and use that as a reason to knock £100 or so off and do it yourself.

From a dealer I would definitely expect it to be sorted before delivery.
Notchy head bearings never get any better and you can't "adjust" notchiness away, so you're looking at having to replace them at some stage, probably at next mot time, and that will cost you time and money.
It's not a difficult job to do in a workshop with the correct tools but a pain in the arse to do by yourself in a cramped garage with a pair of spoons.
Just drop them a quick email - "I noticed from the online mot history... can you assure me that these will have been replaced prior to delivery..."

I wouldn't mind doing it myself, if it weren't for the price of decent tools. Notchy head bearings never get any better and you can't "adjust" notchiness away, so you're looking at having to replace them at some stage, probably at next mot time, and that will cost you time and money.

I've sent a mail asking the question. If I took it somewhere to be done it'll be £240, not insignificant and as much as good quality tools for the job.
