Won't be long, after the risk of heavy frost passes and gritting stops, a bit of early spring rain washes the salt off the roads. 6 weeks or so. :-)

The time is NOW!!

Takes next to no time to rince a bike off at the jet wash (being carefull) near home and to then finish it off and cover in ACF-50 when you get home. Get out in the middle of the day and even the weather isn't too bad!

You live in fking oxford. That's bding south of France for a lot on here.

Every single year someone from that area in Great Britain, that no go st-zone, too far south of any decent roads and too far north off a nice trip to Cornwall for some fudge and a pasty will post how its not even cold. ‘Get out there, your are all women’, they assume the rest of GB is like this cesspit, awash with GITS, folk wanting to steal your motorbike whilst spraying acid in your face for being a promising young football rap star.

Yet still preferable to living in Scotland.

Maybe so....Least our bikes are low mileage from all the long winters and rain.

hehe
Anything much further north than the river Medway rings alarm bells with me. I don't tend to commute much in the winter, mostly as its dark early, but I will definitely go for a spin on Saturday/Sunday without fail. One of those days is bound to be dry for al least a couple of hours. Last Sunday's ride to Eastbourne was pleasant, although chuffing cold. So glad I've got heated grip!
I can't imagine living in Scotland - the climate would be just too depressing.

haha, here, take this tissue for your tears princess!

I do live in Oxford but am originally from Wales, spend around 6 years in Germany and the bike came out year round. Proper Snow as an exception but cold and wet is no excuse for me. Decent kit and right frame of mind is all you need.

I joined the dark side and got a mtb again.....pedal power section wasn't worth it.

Nothing strange with the weather over our neck of the woods, even the roads are fairly dry, although an hours ride would result in an unbearable chore of washing an already pristine motorcycle and wasting 4 hrs of my life frown I need to get a 1st service stamped up on a bike for warranty so may have to just suck it up and get the thing to the dealers while the weather permits . .

I went out in 3 degrees on Sunday as I needed to pop to my brothers house and thoroughly enjoyed it. The roads were dry and the sun was out, layers on and I was pretty warm.

Mind you I did go on my WR250, I have no desire to ride one of my road bikes in those conditions as they’re boring to ride when you can’t get heat in the tyres and can’t give them any stick.

Any you Southern puffs fancy bringing your bikes up here (1/4 of an inch off Scotland on a map) for a ride out this weekend?

My bike is staying in the garage until it warms up and all the salt/crap covered roads have cleaned up.

Another 60 miles today, bike is covered in crap, will rinse it at the weekend.

Fun bike isn't moving however, I just can not be bothered to properly clean it if I were to use it.

I'm genuinely glad you're happy, but this is still absolute bks.

Cheers.

Maybe for you and others but it works for me. Rukka suit, heated getting jacket, Daytona boots, Shoei Neotech2 and either my held winter gloves or BMW Atlantic gloves and I’m good to go. Clocked 22,000 miles on 2 wheels last year (which is the lowest by far for years due to change of job) and whilst summer was nice, alot of those miles were chilly and wet, but I enjoyed every single one of them.
