Now that Sena’s active noise cancelling helmet is finally available and 3D printed carbon is on the immediate horizon, what could you imagine as the next big thing for helmets?

If I'm being pedantic, the helmets produced by the company Carbon are not made of carbon as far as I'm aware. There would be little benefit to printing with very short strand or powdered carbon. I hope noise cancelling helmets catch on, that would be useful...imagine not wearing earplugs and near silence...they would have to be selective though, just eliminate wind road ....like to hear the exhaust ...
....im not interested in more displays/distractions in front of my eyes. I like to ride a bike to get away from all that crap

360 degree clear lid so it looks like a fishbowl, thats what I want ....
Why the hell would I want everyone seeing my bald noggin flying past them?! Would make IDing perps speeding a lot easier too!
d I am ......The blind spot warning indicators that sit in car wing-mirrors which I enjoy activating dozens of times a day would perhaps be a useful addition, and much of the problem has already been solved. It could exist entirely within the helmet, and feature an annoying little LED on either side of your porthole.

I've got them on one of my bikes. Didn't pay extra just came with them. Good god they're rubbish. Annoyed me so much I've taped over them. If they can't get it right on a fixed item like a wing mirror I hate to think how many false signals you'd get on a moving helmet. It's a vague ill-informed answer, but I think they need to get smaller personally.
I know someone's mentioned "graphene", but even without such exotic stuff I'll bet you could meet crash standards with much less bulky materials now. Smaller lids would improve everything I think. It would permit better visibility as wider field of vision, allow better aerodynamics, easier to carry, easier to control temperature, and crucially look less like a bobble head.
I'd pay a lot more for something much smaller that offered the same protective properties.

There's a limit tho,I know someone's mentioned "graphene", but even without such exotic stuff I'll bet you could meet crash standards with much less bulky materials now. The issue with head injuries is that it primarily comes down to the deceleration, and that's simply a function of distance over time. Make it less 'bulky' and you're having to decelerate the head more than if the shell was thicker.
Perhaps a lighter-weight and thinner lid but with some sort of expanding mechanism on the outside to reduce the deceleration. Maybe not an external airbag as that would need to be tough enough not together punctured nor abraded, but that could be an interesting direction of research

I've been awaiting availability of the Momentum INC helmet for several years now...User reviews on the RevZilla website in the US aren't positive, with most mentioning the lack of noise cancellation.
It still isn't available to buy in Europe, and you can't buy directly from the US-based Sena or RevZilla websites either.
