My son - Getting Motorcycle jeans/protective trousers
Discussion
Hi,
My son currently rides around on a CBR125 (repsol colours), however he has found it very difficult to find motorcycle jeans/trousers that fit him.
He is a fairly large 17 year old (sorry son) all the trousers he has tried basically go up to about the top of his thighs then stop.
Does anyone know where we can get some decent trousers/jeans that might fit him (we are in the Berkshire area).
Any help very much appreciated, as I feel very uncomfortable that he rides his bike without the appropriate gear. (he does wear a decent jacket, boots and gloves.

I also have generous thighs - years for rugby - I have some dragon jeans - I think the model is silverback and they are a baggy cut which fit well. Try them
Cheers mate I'll get him to try them... It's really scary him out on his bike with normal jeans on. I remember when I was a teenager in tracksuit bottoms on a 50cc moped coming off at 20mph .... Bloody hurt and my legs were a bit of a mess. I don't want him to go through that.- Pete
Try Hood, they're UK made and only sell direct so you can actually speak to the people who make them. They alter the leg length for free anyway so do know people are different shapes. I have a pair and am very impressed with them, they're fully lined and really do look like normal jeans.

A lot of Kevlar jeans, especially the cheap ones have patches of Kevlar, but as soon as you fall off your hands will twist making them be in the wrong place. Being fully lined you're guaranteed sliding on Kevlar. Three denim they're made of is pretty meaty on its own and is stitched together well.
The D3O armour is good too (though thankfully I've not had to test it in anger).
I live a few miles from them so went into their place in Attlebrough and got measured up and they cut some to size while I waited.
Not cheap at 150 quid (including the armour) but good value for the safety and they do last well.

Halversons do larger sizes too and that's top notch stuff.

Depends on your budget, but Rokker do kevlar jeans that also have protective pad inserts in the knees and hips and are waterproof.
Kevlar jeans are great and all that, but the wind does go through them, not the warmest thing to wear in the winter months.
I rode in in my JTS jeans this morning, with thermal long johns underneath, admittedly adding a whopping £3.99 to the cost of protection...My legs were toasty.Kevlar jeans are great and all that, but the wind does go through them, not the warmest thing to wear in the winter months.

On the flip side, in the summer they’re bliss compared to textiles/leathers!Kevlar jeans are great and all that, but the wind does go through them, not the warmest thing to wear in the winter months.
