Trip to Spain in late May. The route.
Discussion
Having been unable to join my normal Euro riding buddies Spareparts & 3DP on this years tour due to work commitments, I decided to just go on a "Billy no mates" tour on my own. It will be around 2300 miles over 9 days in total from door to door.
Sunday Day 1 is home to Plymouth to catch Pont Aven to Santander.
Boat docks at 12:15 on Monday Day 2 is Santander to Leon via Potes & Picos de Europa. c230 miles & 6hrs or so.

Tuesday its Leon to Merida on some fast roads initially. Then turn off at Salamanca and follow the real twisties. c300 miles & all day riding.

Wednesday its Merida to Granada via Cordoba and Jaen. c280 miles & 6hrs riding.

Thursday its Granada over Sierra Nevada to Eiche to visit a mate maybe. The Wed & Thu are flexible as I have only booked Wed eve. c220 miles & all day riding and visiting.

Friday its off from wherever I do stay to Boltana in The Pyrenees to meet up with some other friends on tour. c350 miles & all day.

Saturday its Boltana to Andorra along the N260/N230 and some windy roads. c160 miles and 5 hrs. Be riding in a group for most of it.

Sunday will see me ride the length of The Pyrenees solo. From Andorra to Pamplona or thereabouts. c275 miles and 6hs plus riding.

Monday is the run into the ferry terminal. c150 miles and 3 or 4hrs max.

I will get back home more tired than when I left but full of joy from having ridden down through warm Spain, along the route travelled by The Roman Empire during the 1st Century. Seen some sights, eaten some nice food and possibly met a few other bikers along the way.

I've never done Spain but do fancy it.
For us up far North the ball ache is getting from Scotland down to Plymouth/Pompey. With the ferry you end up losing about four days just to get there and back. Whilst you can get the Bikeshuttle and fly down, there's something quite unpalatable about the concept of having your equipment shipped ahead (to me).
The Alps is just so much easier to get to via Newcastle-Netherlands route. I think if I did Spain, I'd have to take a s
t load of time and head on to Morocco and Northern Africa to justify the time in getting there and back.

As above I've also done many of those roads.
Spain is difficult to beat for tours in my view. The roads are excellent and largely empty, the weather is great, the scenery spectacular and it's very reasonably priced. We generally use the Paradors. I've been every year since 2012 on bikes or in cars or both!
Heading down in the cars in September, then flying down to Malaga and hiring bikes in Andalucia in October.
Can't wait!

Have done pretty much all those roads (& will be doing some again this year on a 3 week extravaganza)
Fantastic, enjoy.
Any pointers welcome. The only part set in stone is the start points and the overnight destinations. The routes to get there are flexible, along with any easy to see sights. Don't do trekking 3km into the woods to look at a waterfall or some such nonsense. lolFantastic, enjoy.

You could hoof it up the Veleta pass maybe? It’s a bit of a dead end and you’ll be stopped by a barrier at 2500m rather than being able to do the full 3300m but it looks a varied climb rather than 500m straight, hairpin, 500m straight, hairpin ad naseum that can be tedious.Just a thought, not done it myself yet, this does not constitute advice etc
As this is after March 29th or after. it will actually be "Day two, arrive Santander, to blockaded port to British Registered vehicles, get arrested and carted off to be interegated due to wanting Gibraltar to stay British", "Day 6 released to go home as a foot passenger, as local police stripped my bike and sold it on ebay. Walking to boat difficult as I have been bummed so much by a Senior Biig all week, who really took a shine to me in my shimmering textiles".

Andy I am sticking with the BMW for another season. It's only done 11600 miles.
Part of my reluctance to change is based on the fact that I currently own both bikes outright and a new one may have meant finance. Another part of me wanted to see what Brexit brings as in my industry it has a similar feel to that we went through in late 2008 just before it all went to rat s
