Hello,

A mate and I have a night out in London coming up on Friday 24th May, and we were thinking of doing something bikey on the Saturday. Can anyone recommend something fun to do within an hour or so of London please?

We’d be happy-ish to go to a museum, but would much prefer to go and do a thing. For instance, I’ve done Tricks In The Sticks before and loved it, so something like that would be ace.

I think we can rule out track days on this occasion as I can’t be arsed with all of the ballache before and after, but something where we could show up, have a laugh and then go home again when we’re tired and broken would be terrific.

Any ideas, please?

Ace Cafe?

Box Hill?

Both basically just biker meet venues.

Are there fun routes to get there? Or are they just places to be on bikes? I’d happily put bikes in the van and take them there if there’s a possibility of a nice ride too, but if it’s a lot of hassle for hum drum roads I wonder if I’d be better off going somewhere where we use their kit and save the bother of packing.

How about visiting all the Royal Mail Lost Property departments in London and searching for dispossessed Leatt braces?

If you're staying at tobacco docks or near it, even vanning the bikes down will leave you with a fair hike on st roads to get out of London. There are some good roads with an hour or so of Ace Cafe, for sure. Ace Cafe is a just a place to be on bikes and in my opinion, not a good one. Or within an hour of Box Hill (which is another place to be on bikes but a much better setting, only spoiled by the number of "bikers" down there - and Police on a warm evening) you could put something really nice together using the A272 or A24. But then you're on the wrong side of the city for the event.

This is an excellent reply, thank you. On this basis alone, I’m not going to do those things. Thanks for taking the time 308’.

I always found "Ace Cafe" a bit of an oxymoron personally.

It's not bikey, and I don't know how you feel about doubling (or more if the Tyrrell P34 is there) the number of wheels delivering your fun, but the Historic Masters is on at Brands that weekend. I haven't been but I'm told it's good.

Thanks Cap’n. I’ll give that a right good googling.

I think we’ve ruled that/ this out now, as we’re both much more interested in biking than bikers. Thank you though mate.

I like their all day breakfast.
Though assuming you'll be in London on the Friday, you'll probably have been stabbed long before Saturday all day breakfasts are a consideration.

Jokes on you: we’re in a high school for girls all day Friday, so we’re more likely to have had a massive stroke.
