New ape looks trick - the headliner is this new Aprilia No Neutral system (ANN). Italians being Italians, something gets lost in the translation somewhere and wouldn't you know, 'no neutral' means that there is still a neutral but it is below first gear. They've bunged it before first gear so you don't hit it between first and second. It's a worlds first, according to them.... But I seem to remember some old bike I rode when I was a kid had neutral down the bottom. Maybe a Honda XR75 or a Yamaha AG100?

Oh, and they're making ten of these things, fourty thousand Euros each, 225hp and 165kg.

Does that not give you more chance of knocking it into neutral? You go down the box not knowing what gear you’re in and accidentally go too far.

Fizzies (FS1E) had neutral at the bottom and I had mine in 1975... world's first my eye!

Seems like a solution to a problem that never existed.

Wouldn’t it be better to keep the traditional pattern but engineer in a solenoid which makes it harder to select it?

If it’s like the GP bikes, you’ll need to press a button to select neutral or something. Presumably it’s track only??

My pitbike has similar technology with neutral being at the bottom.
