So my ninja has been rather hesitant on tick over, bogging down, reluctant to start.
I changed the ht leads as these were falling out just by looking at them. Started great, ran as it almost should however I heard electricity. I could hear a spark and located it to port 1.
I took the coil out, checked the plug, mated the lead again. But it was still sparking through the coil.

I assume there is a slight break in my ignition coils rubber and I'll need to replace this. But before I do anything else it could be.
Am I fitting the leads correctly, there the old style where you push it in and twist, twist and twist some more till you think you have it.
Does my plug look OK. I checked the gap thinking an increase in gap would cause a greater voltage 'surge' to that coil. Spark plug looks OK to me. I nipped it down to make sure it wasn't loose.

I think I know the answer but thought I'd ask.

You can't hear electricity, you can't smell it, taste it or even see it either.
You can bloody well feel it if there's enough of it though!
On a more serious note, what do you mean it's sparking through the coil?
In the garage, with the door closed and the lights off, can you see it arcing anywhere?

Swap two leads over and see if the spark/arcing then appears at the other cylinder, meaning if that leads buggered, it will take it's buggerdness along with it to thenext cylinder.
Wet your finger and slightly touch your downpipes with the engine warmish, one that doesn't hiss with your slavers, that cylinder is not firing correctly! And will probably be where your knackered lead is.
The actual metal part of the lead that clicks onto the spark plug can burn out and a crack appears in it, the spark will follow the crack instead of going to the plug.
Regarding your plug gap, grab the nearest smoker to your and rip a part off their fag packet, the cardboard will roughly be the thickness of what your plug gap should be. If you don't have a gap tool/feeler gauges handy.
