Morning all. Been away from biking for 13 years and the bug has bitten again and I have been looking at getting a cheapish middleweight naked. I drive a lot as part of my job so retaining my license is important.

I've previously owned a 600 hornet and an sv650. I've been looking at the usual bikes - cb650f, z650, mt07, sv650 but also considering Honda's cb500f. budget is around £4500 max and I want good reliability, a decent seat height (not too low).

I love the sv650's looks and engine but the finish looks very cheap and the seat us very low.

what are people's thoughts on the z650? ticks all the boxes and has an option comfort seat that raises the seat height by 30mm.

thanks in advance

I would suggest that if your concern is that you will not be able to control the speed you will be riding at then a C90 may be the best bet, although, in town, that'll still be a risk. All the bikes you mention are easily capable of exceeding every speed limit in this country by quite some margin thus you are going to be the speed limiting factor, not the bike.

If you are "in charge" then the bike you want is the correct one for you!
