Looking for some decent ADV gear for cold-ish weather to warm-ish.

I've always liked Klim, quality but pricey. I don't mind paying for decent gear as I'm of the mindset 'buy it once, buy it right', I've been through enough crap gear and always end up with something better and more expensive, and wish I'd started there.

I'm thinking of the Klim Latitude or Carlsbad jacket and trousers, anyone have any experience of this gear (2018+)? And anyone use something similar they would recommend.

It's for 60/40 on/off road use.

Rukka? I really like mine, and it’s not even the laminated stuff. I wear it year round in all weather.

Check out the new Halvarsson Oman suit which will do the job perfectly well and not at Klim/Rukka prices.

I was all set to buy a Klim Badlands jacket a couple of years ago thinking it was a great Rukka alternative but when I went to try it on I was totally underwhelmed. It just felt like a sack when I tried it on and I've never liked waterproof zips when it comes to vents.

I'm sure it's great off road kit and you can add other layers underneath but particularly for 5-10 degrees I'd be looking for something more integrated.

There's a decent article with the pros and cons of a shell vs a more road orientated option here:

V'happy with my Klim Badlands for that temp range. Mine is an older (pre slimmer cut) Pro and a bit on the heavy duty side, but the ventilation works great when warmer (lots of vents). I also have an older rukka Armax (last one before the stupid zip change) and its a great jacket but doesn't have anywhere near enough vents for warm let alone hot weather. For colder stuff in the Klim I just layer up and make sure the vents are closed. I'd strongly recommend the bonded goretex material type jackets and not the separate liner versions if you think you'll be going any distance where its likely to rain.

I think that's my issue with a lot of ADV jackets, way too cylindrical and sack-like, not fitted at all.

I have an IXS 2 piece adv suit and its been excellent. Has the laminate layers for cold weather and heavy rain which can make it slightly bulky if fitted together but really impressed with it. Used it through south east Africa in 38 deg + and the ventilation was great. And in monsoon like rains it kept me (mostly and acceptably) dry.
Overall good stuff imho
Have a look at the Tour LT Montevideo range

Worth going to a big store and trying on the Goretex jackets that you like. The cut of some of them were great for me (Alpinestars, Rev'it) and was really not on others (Dane). And I preferred some of the features on some jackets to others.

They are all much the same in terms of quality from what I can see as they are all made in the same gore-tex factories anyway.
