Toying with the idea of one of these as my next bike. Seems like pretty good bang for buck, & I rather like the matt black - anybody have any experience?

I had an hours test ride on one last year, I also tried a Kawasaki SX and a BMW 1200r, whilst there were things about the GSX that I liked, there were things about the other 2 that I liked more, I would definitely go and ride one before deciding.

"Powered by the soul of a GSXR", a vastly superseded, detuned, 14 year old engine?

I want to work in marketing.

Still with 150bhp, and from a bike that is widely considered to be one of the best GSXR's ever made.

I'm not disputing either of those statements, just the flamboyance of the sales pitch makes me laugh.

In comparison tests, also on Nürburgring, GSX1000S accelerated top of the pack and achieved some of the highest speeds.
The engine may be "old" but it does not have expiration date on it.
I would still ride a K5 GSXR1000 now, on the streets it is a blast, the extra 20-30-40hp of the modern engine are useless on the streets, and the torque curve in 1000cc I4 engines has barely changed over the years.

Yeah I believe they're very good, a mate was going to buy a GSX-1000 against the latest crop of supernakeds et al. I'll be looking at the faired version next year.

I think we all know Suzuki can build an engine.

The faired version would possibly be the perfect bike for me. Unfortunately it looks like a superscoot from the front.

My friend has the faired version , its a stonking bike and great value for money, as others have said, go and ride it for yourself and make your own mind up.

My brother owned one for a year. I tell ya what the engine on them are bloody quick. He would Albury every time out drag my mates MT10

I took it round cartagena completely standard running supercorsas and it was pretty good, just had massive ground clearance issues

Things I found were abs intrusive when you start pushing on. Alot of parts (like my L8 1000 GSXR) are a bit budget especially the master cylinder

The engine is its strong point although a bit soulless. Suspension is OK but again put a couple hundred quid aside if you ride alot for a revalve

If I were to buy one it would be because there was a really good pcp deal and cheap price with loads of options

Honestly there are better fast nakeds out there... Just maybe not as cheap. Oh and its good on fuel too if you're a tight arse like me

I tested a 2017 model and found it INCREDIBLY snatchy on the throttle - to the extent that, on paper, it was the bike for me but after that test ride decided against and stumped up the extra for an MT10. Never looked back... except maybe at the petrol station...

Unfortunately this is also transferred to L7-... GSXR1000, which has a new engine.
These Euro4 electronic goblins, they kill all excitement.
I had my L7 flashed a year after I bought it, I simply could not ride that snatchy piece of sht. A-mode, B-mode, no difference. B-mode just added its own retarded (literally and figuratively speaking) behaviour.
After flash mine runs much better. But it is still second rate in this respect to previous S1000RR for example (I haven't tried the new S1000RR yet).
All my talk is related to street, maybe on track it comes into its own, I do not know.

Some firms here in Switzerland sell GSXS1000 already flashed and with intake funnels (I don't know English word for it, see photo) modified, just to make this bike good.

But MT-10 (non-SP)...I HATED it. Maybe I do not have the skills to use that bike, but I rather go for S1000R or (my favourite) Speed Triple RS.

I don't know how people find the L7-8 snatchy. I can't say I really noticed. It's a bit sensitive and keen to get going but I wouldn't say jerky

I was lucky enough to be selling these and did the launch. Wonderful machine.
