Sat Nav App for France

Used this app a few years ago when I drove to Paris, struggled with the roads around charles de gaulle airport (possibly any sat nav app would), apart from that was fine.TomTom Go downloads maps offline and worth a look at too.

Doesn't google maps allow you to download their maps to use without data?
Yes. But there's limitations. For example it's way points are temperamental, and it still uses 4G/3G for slight alterations, so you can find it will not let you re-route. I.e. do not precisely hit waypoint, cannot delete, cannot re-route, so you're without sat nav until signal strength improves.
I swear by google maps, but I imagine there's better stuff out there.

With the offline maps downloaded it is very economical with data while roaming though - it used <10Mb while I was away in Germany a couple of years ago.

I've used this for a while and it's usually pretty good. Remember to download the maps before you go though! Prof Prolapse said:

I go to France most years, did 4500 miles through France and Italy last summer, use Google maps and Waze for the short hops
You only use data for routing, and anyway, data is really cheap these days anyway, the mapping was superb and we didnt get lost, miss any turns, not find anywhere etc.
I dont get why you need anything else unless you are driving a specialist vehicle with restrictions ie Motorhome, Lorry etc

I've previously used Copilot app on my phone. Always very happy with that.
Another vote from me for CoPilot. I used it all round Scandinavia, it works off the GPS chip so no data usage (unless you want the traffic info). With any Satan’s app, I’d recommend having a good play around with it well before any trip, so you can operate it easily, as well as setting any onscreen options you might want, like ETA, speed, speed limit.
