Thinking of getting a bike again (NL, formally UK)
Discussion
So, having sold all my bikes when I moved from the UK to the Netherlands just over 2 years ago I haven't had a bike.
(I've retained all of my gear, so that's a plus)
I used to have a VTR SP1 & 2, both of which were pretty much bulletproof in terms of reliability.
Currently I am looking at the following 2;
MV Agusta F3 800 EAS (2014)
Aprilia RSV4 (2011)
The question I have is what the reliability of either is like as I would like to have something which isn't likely to leave me stranded because the electrics had a strop.
In terms of riding it's just for fun really, maybe some track days on them too, but predominantly road riding.

I've got a story about those 2 bikes, a few years ago I put a deposit down on a 2015 registered f3 unseen with 300 miles on the clock from a respected dealer , I was on holiday at the time so the deal was to collect it when I got home.
Fast forward 3 months after placing the deposit the bike was still not available for collection, it became apparent it had a slight cam chain rattle and after waiting for the Italians to finish there summer holidays the cam chain adjuster they sent over did not cure the problem, it was then decided the bike needed an engine strip down.
All this and I had not even seen the bike in the flesh
I couldn't wait any longer so the dealer refunded my deposit .
A week later I had this in the garage
A stunning sports bike and a lucky escape from purchasing the F3. The rsv4 factory was a 2013 with the introduction of ABS for that year . If it helps I sold this bike 3 years ago with 11500 miles and the big £800 service done for £8700

I have experience on both brands, same engines but slightly different variants
My mv was a dragster 800rr 2015 model. I was on the Mv forum and most said the 2015 onwards was a better bike, uprated head etc with the only issue being sprag still on some although the recalls are meant to be sorting this now
A friend of mine has a 2013/14 f3 800 and suffered the famous head issue... That was costly but in my 10,000 miles, 18 months riding all weather's I didn't have too many issues. They are more delicate, paint is questionable in places but a very special bike. Electronics I will say are primitive... I.e the tc
I've had 2 x tuono 1100s based on the V4. They have been great and the overall build quality is better, the electronics are far superior however again I've heard pre 2014 have valve spring issues. Toxicnerve on here had one and had the issues but caught it before it became an engine failure
The Aprilia is a fair amount faster, its got more weight but for me is the bike to have. As I said I sold my mv, bought an Aprilia liked it so much that after 17k I bought another

the big £800 service done for £8700
8700?the big £800 service done for £8700

How is that possible, did you buy a replacement engine after valve dropped?

cannot be because service is outflow and sale of bike is inflow, but his sentence reads like he spent 8700 instead of 800.
There's a few commas missing but it should be fairly obvious he didn't spend the cost of the bike on a single service

you are right about commas

depends, maybe he liked the bike so much that he replaced the engine and kept the bike

Well, aside from the bickering over grammer, it looks like the advice here is to go for the Aprilia.
I am not looking to buy new (unfortunately).
Vintages I am looking at are;
2011(ish) for the Aprilia
2014(ish) for the MV
Not sure if that would make any difference.
I think quite a while ago people mentioning issues with the Aprilia (though I can't recall exactly what it was I think it was with the engine).
