Hello,
Question for those of you familiar with the road. On the northbound stretch there is what now appears as a hard shoulder instead of L1, turning the road into a two lane and not the three lane road as it was previously. Most of the time in the morning the approach to the traffic lights at wandsworth bridge is queuing thus causing tailbacks onto this road. I see plenty of bikers using this 'hard shoulder' and wanted to know if anyone knew of the legalities of this. On a motorway using a hard shoulder for driving/riding is a fine and points, but technically there's no hard shoulder on dual carriageways. Some bikers choose to filter through between L2 & L3 but this is not only slower but more dangerous as well so I'm keen to know if using this lane is an offence, and if so what that offence would be? Can't share an image unfortunately as google maps still shows it as a three lane dual carriageway.
Wasn't sure whether this forum or SPL was more suitable but figured a biker would be the most suitable person to ask.
Thanks!
