Anyone else like the look of the Tenere 700, I haven't ridden off road yet and I want one.

king expensive though, you wouldnt want to off road it at that price.
Why not? its been developed to be an extremely capable off roader, people take GS's off road and they are twice the price, I like it and want one, even though I'll never ride off road at all.

I've been there a few years back with a KTM 690 Enduro. Great fun, but almost nowhere to ride off-road in SE England, & paranoid about dropping it. Dual purpose tyres not great on road or off, suspension way too springy & off-road brakes that were proper scary on-road. The fun of overtaking cars on a dirt bike doing motorway speeds soon wore off too.My verdict: buy a decent road bike & if you do want to go off-road, either rent a proper lightweight machine for a holiday abroad, e.g. Spanish mountains, or take up motocross.
It's way too big and heavy for off road in the UK - where it will be fine (and how the launch stuff has been marketed) is on fast gravel. When I'm next in SA I'd happily rent one over a bigger ADV bike for african gravel roads.
In the UK (and much of Europe) anything over 450cc is getting big and heavy - 690 and Husky 701 (which I ride) are the exception.
It will take sales of the GS lot from riders who want something a bit different......I doubt I'll ever see one on the trails though!
As for off roading in the UK - depends where you live. I'm lucky in Reading that I can get out most weekends with my other half (she rides a 250l) and spend 85% of our day off road with the first trail starting about 20 mins away. Would never have a road bike again. The places I've been on my 701 have eclipsed anything I did on my R1 (including most UK tracks/Spa/etc)
