Cleaning up engine/chassis/fairing bolts?
Discussion
Hi,
My CBR954 is generally in good nick but seems to have lived outside for a period of its life and as a result all the bolts and screws from the frankenstein bolts on the tail to the pinch bolts on the forks look a bit manky, either furred up or corroded. In reality the swing arm and heel guards could do with shining up to.
I thought I'd sorted the domed head frankenstein bolts and hugger screws by dropping them in harpic for 24 hours as this got rid of their crustiness pretty well but then I think I made the mistake of trying to shine them up with fine sand paper which did the job temporarily but ultimately resulted in them rusting up more than before I think!
Besides buying new with the usual motorbike price tax applied, whats the best way to tidy everything up?
Cheers.
