Having never looked into new bikes previously, is it simialr to cars where the dealer tends to ahave a little wiggle room?

Yamaha have a farily low rate option on PCP at the moment which makes a few bikes a fair good deal!

Depends on the bike and dealer, if there are any promotions on funded by the distributor etc

Always worth a try. Last time I bought a new bike in 2015 I got a grand off list, interest free finance and a few hundred quid of accessories in the deal.

There's always a deal to be done.

Ask for a discount and if they say no then ask for some free gear instead. You'll get one or the other. I've had £1000 off a new Triumph before, half priced boots, jacket and gloves with a used Ducati and a free helmet with one bike.

In 35 years of biking I have never had one single penny of discount of a bike dealer, I think it's because I buy my new bikes from local dealers and for some (mistaken) reason I think they think I am loaded (which I'm not).

One of them got so blatant that he had this impression that I won't give him my business for anything, not even a tin of chain lube, ever again.

Yes, you can get some savings.

I bought my new RSV4 last November with the knowledge the the newer 1100cc version with wings etc was due out this spring, the dealer was trying to shift 2018 stock before the new 2019 bike arrived.

I do not like the look of the wings on the 2019 bike and the few extra ponies of the newer bike, my riding ability would never know the difference, so I was happy to take a 2018 bike and a big discount in price.

Yes. I have just been looking at a new fireblade and there was a substantial discount to be had. Like everything it's the commodity aligned to the timing.

£616 or £862 in interest on a PCP deal on a new Duke 690 reduced to £6K

https://www.kestrelktm.co.uk/ktm/offers/ktm-duke-6...

On another thread I think someone likened KTM's propensity for deals to that of DFS furniture sales.

There was a great fireblade deal recently, perhaps still going. Big dealer and Honda contribution, plus 0% on pcp.

It was that, plus further discount on list plus tail tidy plus Akra. Or unspecified discount off cash sale. They were trying hard to out me down PCP

As has been said, there is always a deal, its not always a discount, might be free / reduced kit, might be 1st service etc but generally a deal can be sweetened.

This is the deal i'm looking at, which seems good value? I'm fine price wise but to squeeze some extras out of them would be ideal as i'd be looking at fitting the Akra either way.

if your credit rating is good then you could get a bank loan at that rate or a 0% credit card with the added protection that comes with one, then you'd own it, do what you want with it, do the miles you want and may be still have something in a few years rather than being rolled into another pcp or walking away with nowt

will it really meet the GFV in three years? have a look at second hand bikes of the one you want, a family member is 18 months into a three year PCP, bike less than per annum mileage, looked at 2nd hand values for similar (18 months old) and they are less than GFV that it is stated in three years of ownership.

if it suits you then fair enough - but there are other ways

you can always buy on pcp then pay it off in seven days with 0% credit card and get the deal you want at the time of signing

14 ppm excess charge is fairly steep. Especially with only 4000 miles a year.

What bike is it on?

I think it the last 2 years I’ve only done 2500-3000 miles a year, as others have said though, may be worth looking at other options.

As mentioned above, Honda have a great offer on the CBR1000RR/SP.

Not sure if it's Nationwide, but North West Honda (Blackpool & Wigan) certainly have & that's the deal i jumped on back in December.

It's on brand new 2018 models & consists of a 0% APR PCP over i think it's 4yrs, with Honda chucking £1500 in & the dealer matching this, so £3k off. They also provide a FoC DataTool TraKKing & Datatag. IIRC it was £0 deposit also.
