Are the french police ok with dark visors? I know it's a risk riding with one here but most police seem ok with them but are the french going to throw me in prison or give me a 60 squillion euro on the spot fine?

Thanks,

Mark

I'm 99% sure they're fine. It's only this country that would ban them despite them being nowhere near as dark as my Oakleys.

I've never been troubled wearing one in France.

Always worn them in France too - never had a problem, they all ride round on tricked up streetfighters with modified frames & exhausts - things seem to be a lot more relaxed!

Thanks

I couldn't remember if anyone was wearing one last time we went (2 years ago) but we're going for a weekend blast next weekend and as I've ordered a dark visor for the commute thought I'd take it with me if they weren't going to slap me in jail.

Regards,

Mark

Sorry to digress a little but, has anyone over here been pulled just for a dark visor in good light but pointed out to the plod that they have their clear visor right with them if necessary?
Are our plods more ok if you are prepared in this way?

I usually take which ever visor i'm not using with me just in one of those waist bag things, just wondered if it made any odds ?

I was wondering the same thing. I've got a clear one and a road legal light tint but I am thinking about getting a dark one for the summer. If they are a bit easier going if you are prepared for different conditions then that would seal the idea for me. I really can't be bothered for being pulled for trivial little matters.

I'll let you know if I get pulled over with mine when it arrives. My current commute ends in a multi-storey car park so if I wear sunglasses I'm virtually blind as I park... well, bit of an exageration but that's my story and I'm sticking to it . I've just bought a new lid so decided to get a black visor too.

I see plenty of people on the same commute with black (cool) or iridium (ewww) visor so I can't see it being an issue.

I'll carry the clear visor and will see what happens.

Most people I know choose to ignore this law as it is an 'ass' - as has been mentioned you can wear black out shades when driving & that's ok.... but visors that enable you to actually 'see' in bright conditions are illegal... forcing you to wear a clear visor with shades... dangerous but legal!

As a migraine sufferer, I ALWAYS use a black visor as soon as it's even a little bit sunny - I get flashing light migraines if I'm subjected to flickering sunlight - actually have never been pulled for this.

It seems that most people carry a clear visor & if you get pulled it's luck of the draw - if you get an asshole who wants a ticket in his book to up his stats then you're stuffed & if it's one with half a brain (Motorcycle ones usually) they are more likey to overlook it on common sense grounds....

If they tried this in France they'd all be out in their tractors blocking the roads & ferry ports!
