I had a response to my query over the weekend , which this morning has disappeared .

In lieu of a response from "website feedback" does anyone know what happened to the 2 , hopefully helpful , replies ?

A.M Philpot Hardchrome ltd(email andy.morgan@btconnect.com),i got a shaft rechromed for my KX250,the pits on my shaft were so bad i actually had to question them if they could do it or not, huge patches of deep rust.I sent it off,£40 including all the packaging etc and the shaft was as new, brilliant!I couldn't believe how good it was,now the other alternative, doing it yourself.I've done this a couple of times with fork legs that have been bursting seals.Use really fine wet and dry(about 1000 grade wet and dry paper, maybe 800 gently if you get no results with 1000)and using loads of soapy water rub it for ages, nice and gently, then loads more soapy water, rub it again for a while with say 1500 grade paper to finish. Now heres the pervy bit,a good tip i was told was to use ladies tights(don't rip them off her,ask her nicely for her old ones)to test there are no high, rough edges to the pits left, stretch the tights and run over the pits. This works great by the way, they will snag on the minutest high point.Just makes sure nobody catches you rubbing tights up and down your bike, they'll throw away the key!:-)

What kind of forks are you talking about - simple old female slider forks from awhile back, or something more complex?

You can get cartridge emulator kits for a lot of fairly recent bikes....might be worthwhile..
