I've got my California Superbike School Level 1 at Cadwell Park on the 14th July. I've taken a day off either side of it and will be stopping reasonably close to the track.

The easy way to get down there would be to sit on the motorway but I'd rather fill my undercrackers with wasps that do that. So I am looking to take a route that is nice and windy and fun.

The first part of the journey from Durham to Thirsk is pretty much sorted, I'll just head over the Helmsley road for that part.

But from Thirsk onwards?? … Any recommendations?

I have Calimoto on my phone so I will be able to build a route in to that once I know where to head and get the directions through to my Scala from there.

I have all day to get there by the way so slightly longer routes aren't an issue.

I would head East over Helmsley and then south through Malton, Fridaythorpe, Wetwang , then just go south follow Beverly, pick up A1035 around Hull and over bridge, just follow the google maps route from the bridge to Cadwell, its scenic and nice roads. Do this run often in reverse.

Perfect, I work in Malton so the Helmsley road is my usual commute to work so I know that road well.

I'm guessing from Malton you just head down towards Norton and then on toward Settrington way?

After you cross the bridge over from Hull I'd go A15->A18->A16 to Louth, have a quick stop in town (there are a couple of good coffee shops etc), then do my favourite loop living round there - A157 Louth to Wragby then A158 to Horncastle, and A153 to Louth again.

Where are you staying? Might be able to recommend a pub/restaurant for food etc around the area for you.

Cheers for that.

Not sure where we are staying yet. My Mrs has booked the accommodation, but it's about 20 mins away from Cadwell I think?

After you cross the bridge head for the airport, and take the 1st right after the runway. From there on there is a route that will avoid all of the main roads, and bring you out a couple of miles from Cadwell and it avoids humdrum boring roads, like the A15.

Cheers for the route advice thumbup

I created a route for myself the night before on Calimoto based on the recommendations in this thread and it was a cracking ride there and back.

I can't remember the exact route I took after crossing the Humber Bridge but I did take in some cracking roads from there all the way in to Walcott which is where I was based for a couple of days.

Monday at Cadwell was mega as well. My first time riding the circuit and the tuition from California Superbike School was fantastic.

Great, glad to hear you had a great journey and enjoyed Cadwell ...what do you think of the Mountain ? smile

I was over past Cadwell last weekend and again yesterday, all my family and many friends still live around there. Lincs is a lovely place to live, very lightly populated, nice roads, plenty of space. I moved a bit further west as I need a main line train station for work.

Scary the first time, but fantastic after that.

The final session of the day was the best though, being able to use all the gears and brakes as well meant the whole track could be taken a decent bit quicker than earlier on in the day when it had to be ridden without brakes.
