After making a claim on my policy for 2 stolen bikes and realising i hadn't protected banghead I had automatically assumed i would lose all my NCB, spoke to my local dealer and they said I should only lose 2yrs as it was a total loss due to theft, Is this correct?

I will obviously ring my insurers but they aren't open now till Monday and i'm itching to get a replacement bike but it's all dependant on how many years NCB i'll lose.

I've been through it and there is no mention of NCB after thefts or even accidents for that matter.

It just talks about what NCB is

You generally only loose a proportion of your no claims per claim, ie if you have years, you would loose two yrs for the first claim in one year ,another year on top for two claims in a year etc.

But do check with your insurer.

When my ZX10R was stolen in 2015, my 5 years NCD dropped to 1 year with my MCE policy.

If I lose my Ncb cheapest quote I got on a 2015 triumph Daytona 675r was £903

I had one a couple of years ago and paid around £200

Fingers crossed I’m not going to lose it all as it makes me feel like giving up right now.

You were understandably down in the dumps a week or so back and we’re very down on your expectation son your insurance. Those fears were unfounded.

You will only lose 2 years NCD if you had more than 5 years unless you’re with someone weird. Look at your insurance certificate. It’ll be on the back. If not tell us who you’re insured with and someone will find it in the policy booklet.

Surely if you had more than 5 years, then you'd lose a minimum of 3 years up to however many years NCD you have - 3? It may be different for other policies, but the usual is NCD going down to 3 years.

I had max (9 years I think) NCD with no protection when Bambi wrote my K1300S off and I only lost 2 years although you also get policy loading that means it costs more to start with.

AIUI only the first 5 years count so you lost 2 years NCD leaving you with 3 as expected (8-11=3).

Well as I said reading it page by page I couldn’t find it.

However, I’ve rang them this morning and on my policy I lose two years per claim for theft and I had a claim per bike so lost 4 years.
