There is what I assume to be a stolen scooter nearby. If it is stolen it must be with keys, or it has just been pushed there without keys and left. The number plate is off a Yamaha scooter and clearly it’s a Honda pcx scooter. I reported it to the police but I don’t even know if they’ve attended.

I got my scooter returned in same circumstances as someone reported it, and police contacted me. But mine still had my original plate on it. It saved me a fortune.

This bike could also be returned to its owner, but obviously harder to trace as wrong plate. Does anyone know where the chassis number is on these? Can’t see the headstock cos of plastic. And would it be any use anyway. I feel like putting my own lock around it to stop the thieves getting it away again. fk them!

TLDR what can I do?

The frame number is under the seat so you can't see it unless they've left it unlocked.

You might be able to get the engine number.

I'd move it to somewhere secure and try to track down the legal owner.

Would it not be a valid reason to get owner details from dvla (using the chassis number)? Or maybe a honda dealer can give you the original plate from the vin?

was there again today so had another look. Honda not too clever as I presume this is the place where the vin plate was. So a non-identifiable scooter which will / can be used in further crimes. Good eh
