After longish ride (about 150 miles) put bike on centre stand, cleaned and relubed chain, walk in house, walk back out and noticed this underneath the bike.

What is it for? its making me feel really worried. It doesnt seem to be from any of the wheels. I have taken the side panel of the bike off a couple times but there was never anything like this to come off.

might just be a random piece of debris that happened to be under my bike and I didn't notice it I hope.

Take off the seat and look/feel under to see if the nut holding the top of the rear shock is still in place. It's the only thing I can think of that size that might come loose and you not lose an important part of the bike.

nope not that.

Might just be a bit of road debris that ended up inside the bodywork? it looks way more rusted than any other part of the bike.

yeah I was wondering if it might be that, had a look and it doesnt appear so. It almost looks like it could be something off a car wheel.

Do you have a mate who might be playing the old "leave a nut under his bike and scare the crap out of him" game...?
