Whats the best method youve seen when theres nothing to chain to, to stop a lightweight bike being carried away?

Chain it to your ankle.

A thief isn’t often a kidnapper, too 😬

Not much you can do to stop any object being carried away if you cant chain it down to something.

If parking somewhere regularly say at work, you could try to make it more awkward perhaps park tight behind a colleagues car. In a regular place you could also look at installing your own anchor.

Otherwise you just do like everyone else - park up, steering lock/disc lock and go about your business in the knowledge that you have insurance.

Chained up with the chain and padlock off the floor so a hammer attack is more difficult!

You can't stop it being carried away in that situation. Can only mitigate the risk with a loud alarm, or a GPS tracker to improve chances of recovery.
