05 Fireblade Exhaust Question
Discussion
Just got back from the good ol' U.S. of A. with a titanium Yoshi RS-5 under my arm. Upon looking at the task ahead, it seems that when the new can is fitted, I will lose the EXUP valve. Can anyone out there confirm whether or not this is a good thing or will I need to go the route of a power commander, etc. to boost the lack of midrange. I am also looking for some way of tidying the rear up around the number plate area and would like some advice on this.
It needs to be taken off - certainly with the Akro it does - doesn't cause a problem - but I had a PC fitted at the same time & it was run up on the dyno so the flatspots were ironed out. Dunno how it would stack up if you didn't have the PC fitted tho'?

I have Looked into changing to a full exhaust system on my R1 which also has the EXUP Valve. Most opinons i have sourced have been you dont have to get a power commander, but it is advantageous for smoother mid range and also pulling away off the throttle.I think the results would be the same on a Blade.
Theres an article in Performance Bikes Mag that replaced complete system and ditched the EXUP on a Project R1 that there converting to be a R1/05 beater!! and they reported some good BHP results by bining it.
Re:- The Undertail tidy theres quite a few companys on the net that do this a goggle should bring up some of them.
Hope this helps.

veetwin,
I've done this to mine and you do indeed need to remove the EXUP valve. It is a royal pain in the arse, but I've cable tied mine up by the battery out of the way and it's fine.
I also didn't use the stick on foil stuff that Yoshi provided. I put a bit of it on the underneath of the rear light, but I cut the standard undertray to fit. I'll send you pics if you like.
I have a PCIII on mine and it makes a nice difference to the midrange. The bike is still a little fluffy below 2k rpm, as the Yoshi is apparently not quite as good as the Akrapovic at flowing the gasses low down. The Yoshi does look much better though!

Thanks for the advice guys. Matt, could you send me those pictures please? Try emailing me at james.paton@jwf.co.uk that would be great.
I just want to add that those media guys were all wrong. They are under the impression that the front end doesn't lift without severe provocation on the 1000rr. I have beliefs to the contrary!! Something clicked this weekend and I am now in the groove, so to speak. Big smiles. These bikes are phenomenal.
