Anyone else see this ?

Digs at Lorenzo then doubles bags, then whinges about who gets chosen for rides, was honest about not taking a Full Factory contractor as he has Monster sponsorship and maybe has one year left before retiring to Cali ....

Admire how he has made up for a very small %'age shortfall in talent by f***ing hard work though .... a strong example of work ethic ...

I can report that he got the 2nd biggest, post FP1, cheer at Club this morning.
The track will have warmed up considerably by now, so I expect the times to get even better in the FP 2s.
Wee John has just gone fastest as I type.

Yep, admired his honesty about ankle injury and hobbling like a geriatric in the mornings. biggrin He is a solid racer, that's for sure and I hope he does well this weekend.

My take is that he will retire end of 2020 season and enjoy his family. Not sure I would choose Cali if it was me.

Why not ? Cali is awesome, and he won't be going as Joe Average, he'll be going as a young millionaire able to live whatever life he wants, there are some fantastic places in Cali to live.

What sort of money is he likely earning per year?

Estimated £2.5M pa

I assume when offered Ducati he got a bit more, and probably a bit for not continuing.

He's probably got something like £5-6M sitting invested around the place.

Given it was his home gp it was disappointing to see so few wearing a 35 shirt in the stands, granted Rossi still has a massive following and a few more 93 shirts we present this year but i could probably count on 2 hands the number of shirts I counted - and yes I was one of them.

He falls off a lot, probably through trying instead of just going round. I've followed him since his days in BSB and he's a cracking rider and a good bloke. Sets a good example for others to follow. Hard work gets you to the top.

The Rossi merchandise was, as always, astounding ... it was difficult to see anyone in something other than.
I noticed that the campsites (I was in Silverstone Golf Club's, but saw others as I walked around) had quite a few of those flags-on-tall-bendy-poles bearing the "35". But as you say, shirts were thin on the ground.

Furthermore (going a wee bit off thread), it seemed to me that there were far fewer punters than visited last year, or the year before that.
We used to leave on Monday, to let the Sunday crowds disperse, and visit DK Motorcycles to spend some time on the way to the boat. This year we left the campsite at 19:00 ish on Sunday, and there wasn't a queue at all. Two years ago, some folks still hadn't managed to get out of the car park at Club by that time!

Nothing to do with that, for me at least. He's a monstrously better rider than me - I've no delusions about that at all!

He annoys me with his incessant moaning and should have /would have book of excuses.

Also, bhing about other riders who are far more successful than him is plain embarrassing - just shut your mouth and do your taking on the track.

A 35 t shirt is one of the very few I would refuse to wear.

I really want to like Cal but any time i warm to him he says something utterly daft, or just plain ridiculous. So i understand the poster aboves view point.

There is a youtube clip of miller and crutchlow commentating on moto gp which is worth a watch.

We stayed in Woodlands this year and left on Monday, it was mainly 46 flags on the family side. How did you find the golf club camping ? it was our first time camping - if you can call it that when your in a hired motorhome.

If Cal had anything approaching a decent t-shirt I'd get one. Some of the riders must have their shirts designed by Stevie Wonder.
