What things niggle you about bikes/biking/bikers?

For me it's when there's someone with you while you try to push a bike about on the drive and they start push/pulling it unannounced to "help". Yes, I know it means I have to put less effort into forward/back movement, but the bike moving in a way that isn't me/gravity is really disconcerting, I don't know what's happening. I intentionally lean it into my hip so you trying to straighten it up doesn't help!

Another is "Real Biker" politics (OK, maybe more than a minor annoyance). All this "Gosh durn Sons of Anarchy hoody, If he ain't careful he'll get beat up!" No he won't. Plus, if you and your friends want to live by a strict set of rules and criteria for what you can/can't wear/do/ride - Because you're not a REAL outlaw without a strict set of guidelines and rules! If one of you breaks the rule, then you have a right to be agrrieved because he agreed to be bound by those rules and then didn't do is bit. Alan on his 600 diversion commuter just wants to get to work, leave him be. He's not breaking any silly made up rule because he never agreed to be bound by them in the first place.

- having to carry stuff everywhere to lessen the chance of my bikes getting nicked.
- ULEZ charge for bikes.
- lack of legal green lanes near me.

Other people on bikes usually, and anyone wearing a patch jacket, or camo trousers, I'm also annoyed by the whole 'biker brotherhood' thing, one of my family members called me a 'biker' last week, I'm anything but, I just like to ride motorcycles.

Every time the Mrs gets off the back of my bike she drags her boot over the tail section. Grrrrr.....

She very rarely goes pillion these days, and in fact I rarely get to ride my bikes so it's no longer an issue, but would really grind my gears.

I think it must be my age...but getting ready to ride seems to take ages! I don't remember it being such a palava when I was younger, getting ready reminds me of those war films were they have a scene of soldiers sorting their kit out, lots of velcro and straps etc smile

Thieves!

Flipping pain in the arse having to carry locks then spend 3-4 mins every time I want to stop/start a journey and 10 mins to get it out in the morning. If I commute by motorbike I think I spend as much time faffing with locks as I do riding.

For me, it's the resistance to change that pervades the biking industry. The number of people who either believe they're better than ABS or think that 30 years of riding terribly means they're above learning anything astounds me.

That there are so many bikes and so little garage space/will to experiment.

Vapists.
Other people who take too long to get kitted up.
Riding with other people / groups. I much prefer riding on my own.
Wind (The weather type)
Suicidal pheasants.
Diesel on roundabouts.
Fag butts thrown from the window of the car in front.
Solid white lines.
Setting off with an earplug that hasnt quite been put in properly and then having to stop soon after and sort it out.

Road design, where they have squeezed too many lanes into one carriageway which doesn't leave enough space to filter easily. Thankfully most of the time this is temporary during roadworks or similar, but I am noticing more and more situations, especially in urban environments, where there's just not enough room.

Gravel, particularly when its spilled out into the road from driveways
People smoking drugs in the car in front (never realised how much this happens until I started riding)
Having to carry locks around everywhere

The fking weather. Bought my first bike at the start of August. August turns out to be the wettest month of the year and has pretty much rained every day since. I still go out in the rain it's just not as much fun.

Also, people that dither. At traffic lights, turning into junctions, undertaking a parking manouvre, accelerating up to the advised speed limit, returning to the left lane after overtaking on a motorway. Ditherers, everywhere.

Clearly the worst thing ever is when you have headphones in and inadvertently pull the cord ripping it out from within your lug and helmet whilst riding. Left with a searing pain that even the dulcet tones of the lighthouse family can't sooth.

Yep, super irritating.

I hate the faff of getting kitted up - boots, jeans, jacket, neck warmer, ear plugs, clean the visor bla bla bla. Obviously worth it, and for me absolutely necessary, but annoying nonetheless.

Fuel range is annoying for me too - I know it's a vicious weight circle putting a big tank on, but more than ~140 mile range would be nice.
