What/ if any incentives would you look for or expect from a dealer when buying a new bike?

I was speaking to my local Honda dealer yesterday. He said he typically has baout 10% across a bike. I've been offered a CBR650R on 3 years 0% APR.

This place seems to have some decent offers - https://www.wheelsmotorcycles.co.uk/

What you after out of interest?

Very much brand and dealer dependent I would say.If its something sought after you might get a bit off your accessories and get them fitted for free. If it's a KTM expect to get it for about 70% of RRP at the end of the biking season!

I got sweet FA from my triumph dealer on my Thruxton R. Stock flying out the shop at the time didn't help!

Depends on the market situation, dealer, make, model, stock etc. You have to do a bit of research and if you can find two dealers with what you want then you can try to negotiate a bit harder to get the best deal on offer at the time.

In the last 10 years ive had free tat like branded t-shirts, hats etc and free paint options (worth £400) but no movement on price or low rate finance offers. Other deals where Ive got interest free finance and 10% off list price.

True three of years ago when it was the “must have” Triumph. Buy one now and Triumph will give a £1000 contribution and the dealer will also have a margin to play with. I got a very good deal replacing mine before Triumph’s year end in June. If I’d gone for a Speed twin then it’s list price as they can’t make them fast enough to fill demand. Probability is that a new Thruxton will be announced later this year for 2020 then the you’ll be back to list price.

My local Ducati dealer was offering a custom made race suit with a new v4 recently.

Only thing I managed to get from Ducati was a £600 service/workshop voucher for £200.

Fireblade i bought new in 2014 was alright. £1k discount, then 0% PCP. £2.5k down and £150/month for 3 yrs. Then the balloon was only about £3.5k. Was quite a good way to get a new bike paid for.

I wouldn't touch anything unless it was 0% now though

Never had any freebies though. The fireblade dealer wanted to sell me GAP cover when i collected it, but it was really expensive and they wouldn't haggle. When i declined he said "well just don't crash on the way home". From then on the handover was quite frosty!

And they shafted me on the p/ex value when i looked at changing it after 18 months. The offer was awful. I sold it privately for a grand more than their offer.

I did win a helmet from there in a raffle. Does that count?

Their p/ex value sounds pretty fair if you could only get a grand more p/ex.

I'm looking at getting the 2019 gsxr1000r, Suzuki have 0% finance atm which is good but a few extras on top would be nice. my local dealer wont offer anything on top of the 0% and another wont let me know what they will offer exactly so its pretty much made my mind up on waiting. maybe I'm being a bit greedy but got offered some decent extras on the 2018, I'll wait till they offer them on the 2019.

100% this. In fact, if a dealer isn’t on the ball pre-sale I wouldn’t waste their time.

This... Having been with dealers that are good and bad it goes a long way

Also as already said it depends on the bike, availability etc as to whether they are flying out or desperately needing to sell to hit target

My gsxr wasn't selling quick so the 16995 became 13995 with 1000 foc accessory kit on top of that AND 0%HP for 3 years on 50% as I put 50% down. Its a track bike so for me in 2 years I own it

My 16 Aprilia was a few months before the 'new' Euro 4 version come out so I got it 12995 instead of the 15995

My 19 Aprilia was one of the very first in the country and the latest having all the new suspension etc... That one was harder to get a deal. 16995 retail I paid 15995 with an akrapovic carbon exhaust and race map

I've seen these now going for 14995 making way for the 2020 stock

Above all this though is good customer service. When you need it most you'll appreciate a dealer that supports you

I’ve never had a sausage off a dealer discount - I fare very badly on bikes.

The reason is - I’m 100% on this - is that the dealers (local) think I’m loaded, which I can assure you that I most definitely am not, it’s just some strange preconception they have. I’m just a regular Joe.

I do, however, just tend to wander in and buy one, there and then. Next time round I will be spending some time and doing my homework. Sick of being had for a soft touch.
