Hello again,

last time I posted I was looking at getting a gixxer.. I went the total opposite way (as its winter) and bought myself a KTM 350 EXC-F 2012.

This will be totally new to me so am looking for some advise, does anyone know where is the best place to go and practice riding or any nice little easy loops close to Westbury.

Also is there anyone else here close to Westbury that rides out occasionally that would be happy for me to tag along?

Cheers

Your best bet is to look up your local MX track and see when their next practice day is on.
If your new to offroad riding take it easy(you'll probably be knackered after a couple of laps) and just enjoy.

I did my first enduro in my late 40's and just treated it as a sunday ride out,no pressure and had a great day.

Are you looking to just ride Enduro's etc. or are you interested in doing Green Lanes as well? I'm assuming as you have an EXC-F its road legal?

I'm just in the middle of hanging up my off roading boots (again, for the errr 4th or 5th time) I've got old injuries that just keep haunting me and making it not fun anymore, otherwise I'd of happily taken you on some rides out... However I can help point you in the right direction and specifically round Green Lanes I have a load of GPS trails I can share with you... a couple in and around Salisbury Plain, and a few for Hampshire and Surrey too. Loads of differing opinions on what GPS hardware to use but the most robust unit I've come across is the Garmin Montana...

If its just Enduro's you want to do just go for it, sign up in the Sportsmans class, loads of novices and slow riders along with some pretty handy fellas that aren't riding competitively too...

if you want more info drop me a PM with your number and have a chat...

There's also tons of You tube vids out there for beginner riders with lot's of useful hints and tips, well worth an hour or two perusing whilst sat in front of the telly at night.

I'm not far from you but ride an R1 so I'm not really au fait with the off road routes but i know there are plenty of areas of Salisbury plain that are accessible and I the the plain is accessible from white horse, though I don't know if those parts are open to the public. Joining the TRF would enable you to learn the local trails even if ultimately you didn't want to continue riding with them?

Been a while since I checked the forum!

I'm looking at doing a bit of both, after watching a few (lot) of vids on youtube its looking like it would be fun to do some enduro (at a very beginner level) as well as some off road/ green laning. Unsure of where to go near me so some GPS routes would be perfect! I actually have a Garmin Oregon for work so would be able to use the same files?

I'd send my number but work away and wont be back to the uk till after Christmas so atm I'm pretty much uncontactable apart from email.

Cheers.
